I will not tell you that you can make millions on Triond, but you can make a decent amount of extra spending cash. Triond pays you for the amount of clicks you get on your article of picture. The average amount of money for a picture is around 50 cents per 1000 hits. The average for an article is around $2 per 1000 hits. The way it works is that you get 50% of the total advertisement earnings, and Triond gets the other 50%. It is very easy to make around $5 a month, if you know how to promote your work.

How and Where Triond Pays

Triond pays using mainly two methods:

1. By Paypal.com. This is the easiest way of getting paid, because the minimum amount of money you need for them to send you the money is only 50 cents (if you do not meet these requirements, the money will roll over into the next month and add on, until you reach 50 cents.

2. The second way is by check. In order to get paid by check, you must have $50 worth of earnings. The down side is that you will have to pay $3 for the check to be mailed.

Another great thing about Triond is that they always pay on time, and almost never have problems, unlike other paying sites.

Write about Anything you want

The best thing about Triond is that you can write about anything you want, and there is almost never any restrictions. Unlike other sites, Triond promotes the fact that you should write about varieties of subjects.

When you submit an article, Triond always has real editors that read your work, and help fix some mistakes, unlike many other publishing sites, who will not submit your work if there is even a slight error.

In the end, Triond is a GREAT site. It is the easiest to use, the best paying, and has the best community of writers.

The Growing Trends

I’d like everyone to take a moment and count the amount of friends you have in your friends sections, now I would like you to count how many of those friends actually read your work.

If you have a ratio of 10:120 then I’m sure you have the same types of concerns as many of the other writers.  However, it has come to my attention that many writers are leaving due to the lack of page views that they personally say was by no fault of their own.

Did they make the most of the platform that was presented to them? And if they did, did they personally market themselves outside of the realm of possibilities?

It may be time to update your friend’s area and start making it a bit easier to keep up with your most loyal readers in the community section. The answer I use is “delete, delete, delete” for the ones that have fallen off the radar or just don’t take the time to read others pieces.

Lets Link to Each Other: The Wrong way to do it

There are so many ways to grow your content besides the use of social bookmarking. Personally, I love linking to material that is both interesting and of course pertinent to my own.

It’s always nice to hyperlink one of your articles to a previous user or an older article with the same type or related content. Remember that linking to an article that has little to do with the article you are writing is a dreadful way to get more views.

If you look at the analytics of Google, when your page is indexed by search engines and the links are basically useless, the search engines see no reason to rank or crawl your pages.

Lets Link to Each Other: The Right Way

Recently, some of my best buddies on Triond and I started linking to each other based on our content.

Anytime Chris Stonecipher has a recipe or article that pertains to my material, he links it and I do the same for him in return. As far as I have seen, I have received more views and so has he.

Rummage through the lists of articles written by your Triond friends and see if you can’t do the same.

Do you want your voice Heard?

As writers, our main purpose is to educate and entertain however; my point goes back to the present state of Triond.  Are you trying to be recognized for your writing talents or the ability to write as many top 10 lists submitted in a day?

For the past month, I have stumbled upon some really amazing talents on Triond and my opinion is that their gifts are not being appreciated as they should be.

For that purpose, I set up a Blog called Friends Revolution to showcase the amazing talents of some of the best writers on Triond that may not be getting the recognition that they deserve.

A perfect example of one of these writers is Lost in Arizona who wrote a piece on the most memorable pictures taken of all time. How does this differ from the typical top ten lists you ask?

If you actually take the time to read the content instead of skimming over the pictures and leaving simple comments like “good post” or “good read”, you would realize that the emotional word painting conveyed in this article brought me to tears.

This was my exact comment at the time and my most honest opinion:

“All of these pictures really brought tears to my eyes. I was so enthralled with the photos and text that the music playing on my computer disappeared. I think this is one of your best and should be number one on the Hot List!”

Top Ten Writers Who Haven’t been Realized, Yet!

I have come to the realization that the best writers on Triond pay homage to other great writers and this is what I am trying to do.

Content Generation

If you're like me, and coming up with ideas for articles is the least of your worries, then feel free to skip over this section.  Your problem is more likely time management or promotion.  For those of you having trouble coming up with that groundbreaking article, please read on.

Now, this is not to suggest that your experience on Triond should be one of catering to the majority.  If you build a steady following writing prose/poetry or film reviews, for example, then by all means write about that.  On the other hand, if you're willing to do a little research, you can delve into topics you didn't even know would interest you!

First all, be aware.  As other users have said, pay attention to the "Hot Users" section and see what they are writing about.  To get into that section your article has to be something original that will capture people's attention.  (Don't forget a snazzy title as well.)  Take a look at your interests--what are some interesting things about, say, stamp collecting, drag racing, baking, or even writing that you think people may want to know?  Exploring your own interests first will also give people the idea that you've done your homework and you know what you're talking about.  I've noticed that articles that seem to be thrown together some attention, but fade rather quickly.

Secondly, look into some new interests; or synthesize your current interests with something you're unfamiliar with.  This can also help to produce original and thought-provoking content.  Let's say you're into stamp collecting, but you're not that great with history--and perhaps you'd like to be.  A little Google/Wikipedia search could help you track down some well known people who were secret stamp collectors.  See?  You've taken your specialty and given it an intriguing twist!

Finally, a little healthy competition never hurt anyone!  If you're cruisin' Triond--and I suggest you do--and you come across an article to which you would like to respond, then that is another possibility.  You don't simply have to comment, you can write an entire article as a response.  Rememeber, however, that displaying maturity is the best way to be taken seriously.

Quality and Quantity

One of my major problems is quantity, which is connected to the next topic.  Anyway, I like to think that I put a good deal of effort into writing my articles--editing them even after publication for clarity or the inclusion of additional information.  When it comes to content writing in the form of advertising revenues, it is important to have both quantity and quality.  In order to earn a decent part-time income from Triond, you're going to have to write a few to several articles per day that will accrue a great deal of views and comments. 

Your articles are going to have to transcend time--meaning that they are relevant no matter when they are read.  For instance, should I write an article about the upcoming election, the fervor would most likely get me a good number of views, but as the election passes and passions cool, fewer and fewer people are going to be interested in my predictions of said election--for obvious reasons.  There's nothing wrong with writing sometime time-specific, but you must understand that that time will pass.

On the other hand, continuing to produce content keeps an interest going in your overall content.  If someone reads an article you recently published, they will be more likely to go to your profile and read other articles that you've published in the past.  The longer your articles sit around, the less likely your other content is to be viewed.

About editing, I believe it is important to keep your content up to date, possibly responding to new media resources or reader comments.  For example, my article "How to Cope in an Interracial Relationship", is one that covers sensitive material.  Thus, in order to ensure that my message was received as I intended it, I had to edit the first couple of sentences for clarity.  In addition, as I mentioned in "How to be a Bad Fiction Writer", revision is your friend.  It will also ensure you keep your content fresh and interesting. 

Not to mention, if you think your content is killer, but for some reason people aren't reading, try changing your title to something a little more eye-catching.  There's nothing wrong with that!

Time Management

If you're like me, constantly running around trying to get a million things done at once, then writing for Triond may serve as more of a hobby.  To combat the lengthy intervals between articles, I find it quite useful to keep a notebook handy.  It doesn't have to be anything special, just something in which you can jot down article ideas--or even write drafts to be copied online at a later date.  In fact, this section of this article was written in a notebook during some down time.

Another good idea (for writers of all kinds) is to try to keep a schedule.  Perhaps setting aside a specific day or time of day dedicated to writing/revising your articles.  This is also a good way of being memorable to your readership.  If you only publish articles every two weeks, the articles you have already published will lose readership (especially if you are a novice such as myself).

Community/Networking

No matter how many articles you've written--even if it's just one--it's absolutely important that you connect to the Triond community.  This is not to suggest, on the other hand, that you befriend Triond users for no particular reason.  It would be much more productive to add people who share the same interests you do, guaranteeing that they will at least glance at your articles, and you can genuinely comment on the content they produce.  Stronger bonds are built this way and you can establish your own publishing niche that will support one another.  Many users do this already--without even noticing it.  Unless you're very rigorously promoting your work outside of Triond (to be covered more extensively in the Promotion section below) most of the advertising revenue your articles are going to attract are going to come from other users, mostly out of curiosity or in an attempt to get tips for their own writing endeavors.

Another "tips" article for Triond suggested that users copy-paste links to articles that may be relevant to articles on which they are commenting.  I would say this is definitely a good idea for someone with a busy schedule.  Since the name you use when you comment on people's articles is not linked to your profile, it may make sense for your to post a link to your similar/related article so people can get a chance to check you out without having to search the users.  So far, I haven't tried this technique, because I have no been able to connect as much with the community with my busy schedule.  Another means of improvement for me!

Tags

As I'm sure you've read in other Triond articles articulating tips for additional success, it is extremely important that you embue your articles with relevant tags that can be Googled and read by people from as many places as possible.  I would suggest placing as many relevant tags as possible, and once your article has been published and gotten some views, try to Google it and see how long it takes to find your article.  Now, try this with other content that is listed at "hot" and see how long it takes you.  This is just as much as a "Promotion" problem as a tag problem--these things are not mutually exclusive.  If the tags on your content cannot be adequately searched for, then people who don't read your blog, don't use stumble and other networking sites are not going to be able to find you.  It's just as important to establish niches on Triond as it is to attract people who might not have found you otherwise.  I've been trying to work on the "searchability" of my articles since I joined Triond--which wasn't that long ago.

Promotion

Again, in my opinion, the single most important think you can do with your content is to promote it.  No matter how little content you have or how poor you believe the quality to be.  Undoubtedly, the more frequently one produces content, the more practice one has as to what works stylistically and tactfully.  There are a few ways you can actively promote your work--and even ways you can let your articles virtually promote themselves. 

A few of the suggestions on other "Tips" articles has been to use social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, Technorati, Digg, Facebook, etc.  Go for it.  Use all of them.  They certainly help get the word out there.  On the other hand, if you're looking for substantial comments on your articles (especially if you're a creative writer), you may not be able to get that from mere stumbles or clicks.  It will help your revenue, but it won't provide any helpful criticism--if that's what you're looking for.  If you're a creative writer looking for criticism, I would suggest posting your stories on writing forums/groups that specialize in such, with the occasional stumble here and click there that would surely help to benefit you monetarily as well...

Another way to help promote your content is to start a blog.  I know at times it seems blogging is so "passe," but it actually helps to get people to feel a deeper connection to your work.  They get to know you (or your ideals) and then they find an interest in the content you produce; thus, gaining yourself another kind of niche outside of the Triond community.  With Blogger, you can add various kind of HTML to the page and include various social networking subscriptions to your comments--killing many birds with just one stone.  In addition, if you really find yourself passionate about the blogging community, you can join sites like Blog Catalog that help you favorite blogs of interest, join groups, and get in contact with other bloggers from all over the place.  So, whether you're interested in starting a monetized blog for promotional or personal purposes, you can connect with more people who will undoubtedly provide you with more readership.

One tip that will seem quite obvious--even though I have yet to utilize it myself--is to have your content promote itself by having time sensitive content.  When Halloween starts rolling around, produce content about costumes, haunted houses, or scary animals.  When Thanksgiving/Christmas gets near, start publishing content about family gatherings, toy reviews, shopping tips, etc.  Once Valentine's Day makes an appearance, produce articles about flowers, gifts for her/him, love, relationships, and all that good stuff.  What do I mean when I say your content is promoting itself?  Well, the arrival of these holidays prompts people to search for themselves, but if they don't have to search (if you've befriended people with similar interests on Triond) then their "Friends' News" will supply them with all the holiday information they could want.

Well, I hope these beginner's tips have been of some help.  I will continue to update it as I find more useful things to share with other beginners--or even old timers who could use some article rejuvenation!  Happy writing.

Your Content Should Have a Good Title

Virtually every reader look at the title first and if it is attractive enough then he opens your webpage and goes on reading.

Your Content Should Be Written with Good Grammar

Grammar is the most important element of an article with the content itself together. A good grammar enables reading process. Using catchy words and avoiding complex and long sentences make the article clear and explicit.

Tagging

Tags are keywords related to your article. They are mostly the words in the content or general words describing it like travel, health and politics.

Now, you have a good article in hand but yet no visitor reading them. The first stage is being indexed by search engines. To do so, you should add your articles into other web pages which have already been indexed. Your indexing duration changes by depending on the pages you've added your link. Here is the ways of doing that.

Add Links to Social Bookmarking Sites

This is the most commonly used strategy by 90% of webmasters. Time for indexing changes depending on the site. Stumbleupon and Digg are the fastest ones. Mixx, Propeller, Sproose, Indianpad and Humsurfer are other alternatives. Checking the search engines for indexing process and recording the result may provide you useful information.

Pay attention to tagging while you're submitting your articles. Use general words and avoid very specific ones.

Add Your Sites to Directories

Directories are alternative to social sites. A group of similar contents are recorded in a specific titles in the directories. Most of the active directories demand fee for submitting, however there are still many free sites for submission. Check the search engines for “free directories and “free submission”.

Check the pr values of free directory which you submit your link. If the pr value of if is 0, it means nothing for you. Your article needs to be indexed by higher pr valued directories. Nevetheless,it is a backlink.

Add Your Links to RSS Feeds

Rss feeds are the best way of being indexed by search engines and getting backlinks. Add your rss feed link into popular rss services. My favourite one is Linkriver and Feedfury.

Use Your Links in Your Blogs

Blogs are effective in sending links. If you have a blog with similar contents in Triond, use the links of Triond articles inside it. Blogs are do-follow and search engines index it and evaluate it while calculating your pr value. Check the pr value of your blog first and if it is at least 2 or 3, then add your link into it.

The comment part of the blogs are usually no-follow and it has no effect on pr calculation. It is pointless for pr but it still works as backlink.

Use Your Links in Relevant Forums and Groups

Add the url of your link into signature part of forums. Join the forums and groups with the similar content. For example, if your article is travel related and being submitted in Trifter, then use your link in travel forums. Every comment with your signature showing the url is a backlink for you.

Check the pr value and visitor number of the forums prior to adding your url. Add yours to popular ones.

Okay, so here goes:

My #1 ranked most popular article is:

B12 Shots: The Newest Energy Booster

For awhile this article consistently received about 100 views a day. Then it changed to 200 views per day. Now, that number is steadily increasing. In fact, if you Google B12 Shots, I was blown away to find that it appears as the #1 search result.

Amazing; I tell this story for a few reasons. First of all, for people who think that their work is just falling into the internet universe only to be viewed a few times, you never know when you'll write something that will become a huge success. Keep working, keep believing. When I first started with Triond, my views were small and I wondered what I was doing wrong, but I stuck with the love and passion of writing in my heart and it continues to reward my efforts.

Why do I think this article has done so well and continues to do well? Many reasons; the topic is hot. One of the biggest universal complaints I notice from people is that they feel tired or lethargic at one point of time during the day. Secondly, the subject matter is health and finding a way to improve yours. Overall, the articles I publish that center around health are always the most consistently and highest viewed articles.

In addition, I believe the continued growing popularity has to do with the fact that it is an article that people want to leave comments on. I have many articles that people continue to view, but do not continue to leave consistent comments.

Why? I believe people leave comments on this particular reason for a few reasons. They have knowledge about the subject and can add their knowledge, thus, helping others, something that doubly makes them feel good and they can also seek help or advice from others.

And then I began to realize that my article became bigger than me; it took on a "life" of its own. It literally became a forum for people who are really concerned about the best way to improve their health. Just by sharing my simple story, it opened the door for others to do so; and in doing so, they are helping millions of others who want to find the best solution for their problems. Some readers may never end up taking a B12 shot, but upon reading the comments left from people who have greater knowledge about the subject than me, others will be enabled to make informed and wiser decisions about their health. It can't get any better than that.

I also feel that because I do take the time to answer all the comments on this article, more readers feel that what they have to say is important to the writer and they are more inclined to leave comments. I truly do care and I do my best to research questions asked, many on subjects I know very little about, but I do it as a thank you for the comment and because I just want the very best for everyone in this world. For some of my other articles, I must admit that it's been tougher to respond to all the comments. The reasons vary, but in the end, I believe it's important to focus your attention on what's most valued and successful in your life. When you do this, the rewards double, triple, and never stop growing.

And, lastly, I think its popularity has to do with the fact that I continue to think about it and link it to as many other articles as possible. In fact, one of my goals is to make sure that all my articles have links to other relevant articles I have written. From research, I learned that linking is one way that search engines somehow figure out what articles should be placed higher up in search results. The more links, the more popular an article appears. Whether this is true or not, it makes perfect sense.

Now when you decide to place links of your articles in various places, this must be done thoughtfully. You must realize that "spamming" on any level will not bring you what you want, and that is prosperity and bringing good feelings to those who read your work. All it does is make the majority of people feel as though you don't care about their work, time, etc. And, for those who try to be as nice as possible, well you might enjoy a few views, but in the end, you will deter a loyal audience more so than anything else.

When I started out, I had to learn the hard way, but luckily, I learn quickly! I left a few links myself when I commented thinking that because the subject matter was similar the author would appreciate it. Not so. And, though my intentions were good, I soon realized that by doing so it was like I was saying to a person who was not even my friend, "Okay because I cooked you dinner now you have to cook me dinner."

We all know that when you do something, people never want to feel obligated to have to do something back. Your friends simply do nice things for you because they want to of their own volition. So when you start linking your articles be sure to leave them on your articles, websites, blogs, etc. If you enjoy writing articles about health link your health related articles throughout your work, down below, or wherever you think they will be viewed the most. This is truly a smart way to increase your article views because if readers already love your writing style and subject matter and want more, they can quickly find more of your work.

While readers can also simply click your name to find a list of your work, the manner in which Triond articles are catalogued is by date and not subject making specific searches a time consuming experience for your audience; one that most would opt to avoid. And those rare exceptionally interested readers spend extra time shifting through page after page of your work instead of being able to use that time to read your work. Eliminate this obstacle. Make it easier for readers to view your work!

These are some thoughts regarding my article's success. I'm still pondering this subject.

It's amazing how many different subjects and topics are covered on the news, and so this is always a good starting point when you are trying to come up with something to write about.

A quick search through the BBC homepage will bring up dozens of different interesting topics that you could write about, such as the Olympics or the Russia and Georgia crisis.

You could then choose the Olympics as your many topic, and then there are hundreds of different things you could write about, such as what should happen to drugs cheats if they are caught?

Search Google

Just general surfing and browsing can yield many ideas. Try googling words or phrases that you think could help you come up with ideas. Go onto your favourite gaming website, and find a game that you write about, or google the word 'Interesting' and see what you find, you will probably be surprised.

Look At Previous Articles

You can look at previous articles written by yourself, and try to look at similar things you could write about, or you could look at articles written by other people, and try to get some inspiration from them. (Don't copy them, or make it too similar though).

Choose Something Random

Whats the first idea that comes into your head when you think of the word 'Random'?

Completely random topics often do very well. I know of topics about how to kill ninjas that have been some of the most viewed topics on Triond.

State Your Opinions

Can't find a good topic to right about? Use your head. Stating your opinions on something normally cause people to agree or disagree with you. This then leads to a debate, and debate is good.

Don't like China's human rights abuses? Write all about it and watch the views shoot up.

Show Off A Hobby

Everyone has a hobby of some sorts; from football to stamp collecting everyone likes something. Why not write an article on how to repair vintage watches; or how to do a cool footy trick; or a guide on how to swing a golf club like a pro?

Finishing Off

I hope this guide has given you some inspiration on how to think of an article to write, or maby it has already given you a great idea for an article that is going to get ten thousand views? If you read the fine print on Helium, you have to write 100 articles before the site will give you one writing star and the site will only pay you if you get $25.00 saved up in your account. If you're like me, you're wondering how in the world someone can write hundreds of quality articles about obscure topics and still have time to sleep at night. I have written about 30-35 articles for the site and have earned the astounding sum of 85 cents. Helium won't even give me my 85 cents!

For Triond, all you have to do is upload original content. You can upload a picture of your granny and the site will pay you. You can record yourself singing in the shower and guess what: you get paid. On Triond, you only have to earn 50 cents before they'll pay you and you can load anything as long as it has never appeared before on the web. I'm awaiting my payment in a few weeks, but I resolutely maintain the fact that Helium doesn't pay.

Blanket Keywords

In an attempt to access readership, a writer may copy/paste a hot keyword list into an article's tag list. Seasoned and respected writers will commonly pass by an article, and even a writer's entire portfolio, for this mistake. Ever Google a topic and a totally unrelated article comes up? Don't you want to scream? This is what inappropriate keywords will give to your article… a bunch of angry readers who feel misled. Credibility is very important to any writer looking to earn any sort of pocket money from freelancing.

Do ensure your keywords are appropriate to your content. Strategically place pre-determined keywords into your article. Once published, a search engine like Google or Yahoo will be able to find your article very easily and direct appropriate readers to your site.

Post Ill Comments or Back-Handed Compliments

Just as with email and texting, harsh words and malice flow easily through online article and blog comments. Constructive feedback should be directed to the author's private mailbox or messaging system. Does your boss yell at you in front of your co-workers and customers? No. She invites you into her office and closes the door. Same goes for commenting on a blog or article. Be constructive behind closed doors.

Do comment frequently and honestly. In some cases, a comment should be read by the masses. For example, in a case you are an expert in a subject and you find an article to be false or poorly researched, adding your expertise to the “Comments” could be helpful to the author and readers and should be publicly published.

Poore Smellings

Spell like you graduated. A well researched article chalk-full of pictures and links will gain much less credibility and readership if you failed to spend an extra 20 seconds to use the spell check. Rereading your pre-published article is critical to finding poor vocabulary, wrong tenses or usage.

Do use a thesaurus and a composition handbook. The Little Brown Handbook is a great source for new writers.

Steal

Would you steal a Clark bar from the 7-11? Probably not. Using published information or pieces of articles is stealing if proper citations and credit are not given to the rightful owners. Learn to use citations properly and credit any work you have used for the completion of your article. It is better to be safe than sorry regarding credits.

Do copy/paste research information into a word processor including the citation. When it comes time to organize and draft your article, citing used works will be much easier if you have already gained the references. The Little Brown Handbook is a good reference for proper citations too.

Only Write Poetry/Publish Pictures Taken on Your Cell Phone

To be completely frank, you are one of the only people who cares about your poetry or funny cell phone pictures. Very few poets are actually good. The rest of us use poetry as a form of journaling resulting in dangling ideas, poor form and pretentious vocabulary. Cell phone pictures turn out poorly in print and should not be used. Buy a great digital camera if you are a budding photographer.

Do publish your poems and pictures that are well planned and of good quality. Save the love poems for your sweetie pie, it makes the rest of us gag.

Publish Garbage

Freelancing is a whirlwind of creativity and passion. The initial excitement of earning money to publish on any subject is overwhelming as we brainstorm 500 possible topics to write about. Publishing 20 articles in the first day we feel well on our way to making some great cash in our new venture. Fast forward a week. We are now all angry about the whopping 3 cents earned on 20 articles. The problem lies in lacking content and planning. Remember to organize great content in lieu of great quantity.

Do research topics thoroughly and thoughtfully. Brainstorm, outline, organize, cite and use proper keyword placement. Utilize your knowledge of paragraph and sentence structure.
