Triond Hot List

Triond is a great place to publish articles, poems and anything else that a writer wishes to publish. It is also a great place to make friendships. I have made friendships with several writers who I respect and enjoy following their material. However, I have been on Triond long enough to notice certain trends which are questionable. One of the items that causes questions is Triond's hot list.

Just what is it that qualifies an item to make the so-called “Hot List?” I think everyone would like to get on the hot list, occasionally, because it helps get page views. Is there a formula or is it all arbitrary? Initially, I thought it was because of high page views and content, but after observing many articles on the hot list, I have begun to wonder and doubt.

While many articles on the hot list are good and some even great, I have seen many that were not. I have also noticed that some of these not-so-hot articles were by regularly seen authors. I have noticed that some of these articles make the hot list immediately after submission – not enough time to see how they are received by others.

Many writers that I see on the hot list deserve to be on it. I would not take anything away from them, but do we have a popularity contest here? If it is, then it should be called that. It is a fact that some authors make hundred of friends just to get their views, so when they publish something, they get a rash of views. I don’t think that is a fair criterion to use to put someone’s item on the hot list. Anyone of us can do that.

I have read articles and poems that were well written and could move someone to tears or elation - I would say that is great content. However, I did not see those items on the hot list. My suspicion is that editors have their favorite authors who can do no wrong – I do not believe I am alone on this view.

I believe that if there is going to be a hot list, it should be fair; there should be some sort of a formula and individual editors should not be able to arbitrarily submit favorites to the lis -, or there should not be a hot list. As it stands now, some writers will chase something that will never happen for them, no matter how good they write.

I have asked Triond for a rebuttal and will share when I get it. I welcome and appreciate all ideas and opinions on this subject. Have you seen consistent good work by some that never ends up on the hot list?

Four Useful Characteristics a Writer Must Have

A success depends on many factors and one of them is personal quality of somebody. There is saying that talent is only 1% and the rest 99% is hard work. Man's character determines whether he likes to work hard or not. The following are four useful characters, which support a writer to be a successful one.

1. Perseverance

A writer must have a deliberate will to behave in a way till his/her writing done. A successful writer does not wait for inspiration. They write regularly. They collect the data, make notes, keep cutting files, read widely and use they senses all the time and write.

2. Determination

A writer should have a firm commitment and self-discipline to write. Try to write every day, even if is only a few minutes. Perhaps we won't finish a whole article, but we can write a synopsis for an article, a future reference, a simple poem, or a letter to a friend. Who knows this little piece will be useful someday.

3. Patience

Patience helps writers to cope with sometime a hard observation process or boring process of writing or typing. Patience also enables writer to cope with the usual long delays in editorial office.

4. Resilience

Resilience is the ability to bounce back after our works have been declined by an editor. Thomas A. Edison (1847-1931) said that many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. And Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) said that success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. Don't be upset too long, rise up again, learn to be better, improve our writing and reach your success.

I notice above four things and I am in journey to be a good, and hopefully a successful writer. There are still many things I have to learn. Triond and my Triond community here have helped me in my journey. With this short article I sincerely wish to support my Triond friends in a little way to be successful writers. Some of them have been the successful writers and I know the rest of them soon will reach their success, if we don't lose our patience. Happy writing!

Why People Choose Triond Over Many Other Publishing Websites

1. The community

Triond's Community is easily the friendliest of any publishing website out there. In my short time at Triond I have made many friends, and got advice that helped me generate much more revenue which I would have no idea to do if it wasn't for them.

I have been at every many publishing websites on the net including Helium, associated content and many more. I was at some for 3 months and I had not made one friend. That shows you what kind of community that is.

2. Freedom to write

Triond have an easy system of write when you feel. This encourages much many new writers to join. Other publishing websites have systems were if you don't write your banned or articles have to be 500 words long. This discourages many writers including me from staying there. You can write about any article you feel.

3. Payouts

As a pay pal user, Triond have a minimum payout of only 50c! This in one of the things about Triond that made me sign up. The payouts for check and western union are $50. This really inspired me to write knowing that Triond would actually pay me for writing unlike many other sites I tried. The best part is its not hard to reach the minimum for payment on the 15Th!

4. The website

Triond's website is extremely user friendly for every type of person. Unlike other sites which are complicated and very nonuser friendly. The publishers are great and will generally publish your article within 1 day! Other websites can take up to a week.

In the end, me becoming a Triond writer was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Love in the Triond Community

It’s not money, not even politics or sports or sex. Love is the most popular subject in the Triond community. Have you noticed that?

I’m still new here, but before starting to publish I took some time to read several articles written by old “trionders”. And the first thing that caught my attention was the biggest word in the tag cloud on the right column of the home page. If most of the people here are trying to earn some money with their writing, how could this subject be the favorite?

Because articles or poems about love aren’t exactly the most viewed –as far as I could see, both in the English and Spanish. So, why “trionders” keep trying? It seems there is a need to communicate the feeling, no matter how many cents or dollars it may add in your account.

In Triond, people speak about love in poems and articles about marriage, friendship, parents, siblings, children, animals, humanity, the global planet, faith, religion. There is the one who speaks about the joy of love and there’s the one crying for the loss of it, the one who tells about the first love and the one talking about the last one.

Many of the greatest works in the Literature history were inspired by love. Maybe just a few or none of us in Triond have enough talent or even the desire to transcend in time like a Shakespeare or a Baudelaire. But when it comes to love, we also try to “translate” the feeling into words. Because it moves us deeply, because it surprises us, or makes us angry, or happy, or because it hurts or we don’t understand it.

We need to say it. No matter how much it sells.

Is the Triond Forum the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Triond?

Triond's forum was created on January 6th. The forum is for all Triond writers, no matter if you are new or experienced. People have been asking for this forum for a long time and now we have finally have a Triond forum. This should be a good start to 2009 on Triond.

Before the Triond forum was created I had been here for around 1 week and made close to zero friends. When I have been on the forum a few times and made a few posts I have made over 10 friends who we share comments and advice.

The Triond forum will be a great place for all writers, to share, and get advice from the Triond masters who have been here for years. This would not have been possible before the Triond forum. This is a great way to encourage new writers who previously would have given up because of small patience and lack of money fast. Now they have the forum to get advice and learn the ways of the best.

The Triond forum will be great benefit for all Triond writers who need advice on writing an article on new writers who need advice on how to promote an article.

Overall I strongly believe that the Triond forum ill be a great place for new and experienced writers who need advice or want to share there work with other creative minds.

What Time of Day Do You Like to Do It?

Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one tapping away on my keyboard in the small hours of the morning. I have always been a night owl, even through university. Some of my best essays and musical compositions were written after midnight and finished as the sun came up.

Some of us are at our most creative and productive at a time when other people would be sipping their cocoa and settling down for a good nights sleep. It is both a blessing and a curse - the phone doesn't ring after midnight and it is certainly more peaceful but if you are trying to combine your writing with a full time day job then it is a terrible trap to fall into.

I wish I could fathom out why my strongest desire to write tends to begin as midnight approaches. I have always been an evening person and I used to think the hours I kept were fairly normal for an adult until one day in the office, I remarked on something that had happened around 2 am. The general reaction from my colleagues was "what on earth were you doing up at that time?"

Since I joined triond a few weeks ago, I have become addicted to reading articles, commenting on them and of course, writing my own. The more I read, the more I want to read. If I am really in the mood for writing and my creativity is bubbling over, then I have been known to stay up until 5 am.

Does anyone else out there ever get lost in the world of triond?

Things will have to change this week because I am back to work after the holidays and I will have to be firmer with myself about when to stop and go to bed. I should think of it as a diet with the mantra "a little bit of what you fancy does you good!" My diet will be a small portion of triond every day.

I guess that underneath it all is a desire that of us share - to write full time and give up the day job!

It is important however to ensure my day job doesn't suffer as a result of this wonderful hobby but it's difficult because since I joined triond a month ago, I just can't seem to get enough.

I am putting the blame squarely at your door!

Yes you!

Because if it wasn't for all the wonderful articles that you deliver here every day, I wouldn't have anything to read!

So what time of day do you do it? Are you a night owl or a morning type? Or maybe an afternoon triond schmoozer?

Triond Forum, Feedback, and Other Suggestions

I know that a similar item was posted and I don't mean to steal any of its thunder. I just thought it worth repeating as I am getting somewhat frustrated with the editorial process and some of the technical aspects of the online editor. Thus I will list some things that I would love to see implemented - in no particular order.

1) Triond Forum

I would love to see a Triond Forum where we can all weigh in on issues. I know that forums are quite easily set up and I believe that if Triond editors were too busy, perhaps some of the senior Triond writers could moderate the forum and filter the key issues to the editorial team.

2) Triond Mail

That there is no internal mail notification simply makes me batty. I don't know how hard it would be to provide an option to receive emails when a writer friend on Triond sends an internal email. I don't check my Triiond 'email' very often and if someone has written I have no idea of knowing. Therefore if I happen to check and someone wrote a week ago I am already considered rude for not responding. Personally I would like the choice to be rude or not. :)

3) Formatting

This might be me, but every time I center a photo or a caption it never stays centered. Is there an article that explains all the features in the online editor? BTW - all of the numbered headings are centered. I hope they stay centered. The first draft of this article got bumped for 'readability' as I had all of the Numbered Headers Capitalized. I see they are still not centering. Drat!

4) A Save As Draft Button

I'd love a save as draft button for every step of the submission / writing process. I once wrote a piece that got lost because when I hit the submit button the site had timed out. I believe I was doing some editing on a submitted piece. That was annoying to say the least. In Blogger there is outside software you can use to create offline, that way you always have a back up. I know I can use msWord but I dislike it - and I can't get it to format any better than the online formatting that I wrestle with.

5) Financial Monitoring

I would like to see a hit-meter on my own articles - just like you can have when you set up a blog or website. I know there is a counter but I'd like a little better verification of ad clicking and things that are tracked by Triond. Let's keep everyone honest. I'm in no way suggesting that Triond does anything devious, but this is a partnership and we deserve a full accounting.

6) Authors By-Line

When I have written something and it is published in the various sites I would prefer that clicking on my name lead back to my Triond profile, or that my Triond profile is called into the web where I am published. (And that could be an option for the user.) I would also like to have the option of showing my email if anyone wants to back to me.

Postscript:

Another thing I dislike is the double underlining that acts as advertising for certain words or phrases. It detracts from the links that one creates, making it hard and annoying for the reader. I find that particular type of advertising extremely distasteful. As a last thought, perhaps if ebough of us copy-paste this article and email it to the Triond editors they might respond with some of their thoughts.

Welcome Triond Newbies! It is So Fun to Read What You Have to Say

Okay, we were all there once, new to Triond, not sure what this was all about or what we would find. I now find it so much fun to read the wonderful writings of the Newbies. Of course, they won't be new for long but there are always new writers, new friends, new styles, and they will always be fun to find.

When you log into Triond, how often do you explore other writings? It's interesting to go into that area of the site and just flip through the pages, seeing what others have written. Something catches your interest and makes you say, "Hmm, I wonder what else they have written." So you go to their profile, and guess what? They have only been writing for a short period of time. Maybe it is the first thing they have written, maybe the third or fourth, but now you are interested in seeing what else they have to say. I like to send these folks a little message welcoming them, letting them know I enjoy their work and have added them as a friend so I can follow their writing. This is one of my favorite past times here on triond.

Another fun way to find new writers is through friends. Just the other day Glynis sent me a message saying " Hey, check out this new writer." So I did, and you know what, they really do have a wonderful talent. I might not have found them right away if it hadn't been for that message so Thank you Glynis for bringing them to my attention! One thing I have noticed here though, sometimes to see a persons talent for writing you have to overlook a few mistakes, whether it be spelling or grammar, or something else. I mean come on, really, everyone makes mistakes and with a little FRIENDLY guidance, these writers will learn to spot their mistakes and correct them. It's not how they spell it, it's what they have to say that matters. So, get out there and explore a little, you might just discover some wonderful talent!

I want to introduce you to a few of the New Writers here that I have found and would love to hear of more that you have found. In the spirit of Glynis Smy's Triond Bandwagon I would love to find those of you who are new to Triond. Go ahead, don't be shy, post a comment, tell me who you are and be sure to post with your Triond Credentials so we can all visit you! Know someone who's new? I would love to meet them! Share them with me, and be sure to check out some of the other's listed here!

So, now to introduce you to a few of my new Triond Friends:

How I Grew in 2008

I guess you could say I learned a lot in the year 2008. That was when I began writing, blogging and whatever else online. it all started when I tried to set up an online gift store. That was a complete failure and closed within six months, but while looking ofr ways to get traffic and advertise I found Blogger and Ezine Articles. That got me started.

I set up a couple of Blogs, why not? They were free. I found that I could put Adsense on them and maybe make a little money. I don't work outside the home so I figured it would give me something to do. Ezine Articles let me set up a free account too and I could publish articles on various subjects linking back to my store and/or blogs. I learned a lot about copying and pasting, Widgets, HTML, etc. Then one day it happened. I typed Blogger into my search box and when it brought me to the results page, I glanced over at the listings on the right, you know, the sponsored results or whatever they call those. And there it was, Triond. Looks interesting I thought, so I clicked on it. Okay, now it really looks interesting so I signed up. In fact, I don't think I ever got to Blogger that day!

Since that fateful day, I have met some wonderful people through their writings and their support of myself and others. When I first started writing here I thought that I couldn't compare to what these talented people were doing. I still have my doubts and I know that I am far from being the best writer around. I can look back at my previous writings and compare them to my newer work and I can see how much I have learned. In fact, one of the stroies that I started here I am now trying to write out as a book outside of Triond. I never would have been able to do this if it wasn't for the amazing support of my fellow writers. The story I mention is The New Queen. I have published four parts to it here and I seem to have developed a bit of a following.

I guess what I am trying to say here is THANK YOU, TRIOND FRIENDS! Thank you to Triond for finding my work worthy of publishing as well. I have been busy over the last several weeks so I haven't been reading and commenting on everyone's amazing work and I am sorry for that. I will try to catch up and stay on top of things now but if you don't here from me it doesn't mean I have forgotten you, I am just trying to write my book. I still plan to write and visit here as often as I can, after all, if it weren't for the wonderful people here I wouldn't have grown as much as I have. From time to time , I will post another part of the story just to get some feedback from you if you don't mind. I have already added another two chapters and so far it seems to be going well.

I want to wish everyone here Best Wishes for the New Year and I look forward to reading more from all of you and offering my support to everyone in 2009. I have gotten a little behind on my blog as well and I will get back on track with that as well. I would like to invite anyone who would like to have their creative works published on my blog Creativity In Writing at http://creativity-in-writing.blogspot.com to send me a message! Everything I post is with permission and links back to both the original story as well as the author's Triond profile. This is just my way of trying to help my Triond friends get more views and to share the work of the many talented writers I have met since I joined. Until next time, please enjoy some my favorite writings!
