Reading Them Forward

After Glynis wrote the story about her band wagon, I began thinking about all of our posts. The older ones seem to get lost in the shuffle of all the new ones and they don't get read very much. I believe a lot of our older stuff deserves to be seen and read. I have gone back through a lot of your older stuff and mine and realized that there is a lot of good things back there. So I came up with a plan that will benefit us all.

 My Plan:

With all of the help from you my friends, instead of reading all the new posts we write, maybe we could start with the last post the writer wrote and read them forward. With everyone's help maybe this will help all of us get a few views of our earlier works that many didn't get read. I know a lot of my beginning posts never got read, and it is probably because I didn't have any friends. Now, so many articles come out daily it is hard to read them all.

I also would like to recognize a few of your articles that I found very impressive. If you find some back there in the lost closet please leave comments about them so we all can go read!

The first writer I would like to mention is R J Grant's The Grand Father. I love Grant's writes and this one never got a lot of views or comments. He has so many great articles posted. I have read all of his work but not necessarily commented on them all. He has a style of the bad boy image, which I love! He writes about life lessons which are sometimes hilarious. He also wrote a poem that was inspired by me and my son going in the Navy. I Have Not Passed This Way Before . I cried when I read it! Grant was also a military man, thank God for all of them. Go check them out and let him and me know what you think.

The next writer I would like to give tribute to is Will Gray's Mock Masque . This post was never read. I just read it myself. Will writes with lots of emotion. He is a very caring guy and has a special talent of bringing his feelings to the reader. Go check him out!

The last writer I would like to take notice of is Drell's Beautiful Mural . Although she is on my friends list she never seems to stop by, but I love her work! She writes with such passion. I read her posts all the time. Go see what you can find and let me know.

There are so many great writers here and its so hard to mention them all so I will stop at three. Lets see who you can find and read them forward. Lets think of this game as kind of a scavenger hunt. Lets go find the post we feel are worthy of some views. Lets have a blast and see who we can dig out of the cob webs of the past and Read them Forward!

Triond Will be the Most Popular Writing Site on the Internet

I believe it wholeheartedly, after all, it is undeniably true that the imagination is the impetus to creation. Without an idea, production cannot begin. Part of the reason why CEO's and top paid executives of companies are so highly compensated and valued is due to the fact that they are “big thinkers” who can see the “big picture” and the far reaching results of their visions.

Visionary minds are the risk takers, the voice of the company or concept they represent, they make mistakes, they change courses, but they all believe in the great validity and importance of their ideas. Then, quite intelligently, they leave the details to the invaluable specialists who fill the various fields. But, social invention and progress first begins with the imagination, an ingenious idea, the spark of thinking past the concrete and known into the fascinating realm of endless possibilities.

One of my favorite and most beloved quotes is:

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”

-Walt Disney

Another is:

“The only limits in life are those we place upon ourselves.”

And, lately, I've had the vision that WE, the gifted Triond community can and WILL make Triond the hottest, most popular writing site on the internet.

Why not us, after all?

Everyday the membership new sign-ups are growing. Every time you publish another article, leave a comment to support your fellow writer friends with a link to your profile you are lifting the entire site to the next level.

Within the past few months, I have done some research and was pleasantly surprised to find that many people believe Triond is one of the best online money making writing opportunities around for freelance writers. You will also be pleased to know that I have read many articles that talk very positively about our community. Most people feel that it is exceptionally supportive and I have to agree.

New and seasoned Triond writers not only consistently read your work and give supportive feedback; they often go above and beyond this kindness. I have had talented, gifted writers send beautiful emails, ask my opinion on varying subjects, further humbling, lifting me up and solidifying my belief in myself. After all, some of these writers have written songs, screenplays, and novels and for some reason, they think I have talent! Some have even gone so far as to write about me in their articles, link my work to their sites, and I'm sure much more than I will ever fully be aware of. Furthermore, the Triond community makes you feel like a special shining star and for these reasons I will never be able to express my gratitude enough.

In addition, some of the articles I have read that speak adversely about our site, actually have sited inaccurate information. I have left comments on some of these articles explaining that I have been writing for Triond for about 2 years and their negative facts are untrue. I believe the more we write positively about our site, the more we talk about all the benefits, and the more we continue to comment, Stumble, link our articles, etc. the more we can truly make this site the BEST writing site on the internet.

The more we all think of the “bigger picture” and limitless possibilities of this incredible site; that we are not in competition with one another, but in the same mission to grow Triond's popularity the more we will drive good, positive traffic to our site and ultimately make it the most sought after, esteemed writing forum around!

I once spoke to the founder of a very popular internet site and he told me that from the very beginning stages of its existence, he was publishing articles and telling people it would be the top site within its genre. And, his words (imagination) paved the successful path to his “greater vision”. I am saying the same about Triond.

Together, we CAN and WILL make it happen!

“To the stars and beyond!”

Five Pillars That Rock Me to Write

Beautiful Mount Massive is the third highest mountain in the contiguous United States. Located in Colorado it encompasses five different peaks over 14,000 feet high (4200 meters). I climbed up near Mt. Massive this summer and would like to share my best picture with you.

Eyeing the majestic grandeur of these five peaks has inspired me to consider five pillars that rock me to be a writer. Before I share these pillars with you, I want to ask you a question.

What Separates Your Writing from the Rest of the Pack?

We are all tempted to conform to the perceived needs of the publishing world because we all want to be published. We seek to write popular content that drives the search engines. At the same time, we attempt to offer our unique voice to a world screaming at our screens.

Want to rock somebody's world today? Me too. These five pillars reign over my writing just as the five peaks of Mt. Massive tower over Colorado.

Pure Passion

My passion to write is unpretentious. It has grown over the years and is as hot as it has ever been right now. I'm not sure where the passion comes from. I do know that if it wasn't present, you would not be reading this article because I would not have written it.

What drives you to write well? Deep down there is something within you trying to find its way out. Explore your passion. Taste and see by trying different genres, various topics, and varying writing styles.

I want my passion to influence the world. Similarly, my world will be better when your passion touches me through your blooming writing.

These flowers remind me of our writing: the author is the bush and the flowers are the works of the author. Notice that Mount Massive serves as a background (like the pillars) to the fruit of the bush.

Ultimate Purpose

I know what I want in life: to make a difference in the world, to influence others for good. I know from where I have come and where I am going. My writing expresses my interests but it also is an avenue for me to touch your heart and to seize your brain. I enjoy life and have a lot of fun. I also want my very next breath to matter eternally.

Why do you write?

Tested Experience

I have been around the block a few times. My life experiences are mounting up and significant they have been. I am married with three children. I have lost a child to heaven. Three different continents have called me resident. Both victories and losses hang on my wall of history.

The power of the pen (keyboard, ha, ha) is that we discover as we write. We learn when we teach. We conquer as we empower. We prosper as we propagate.

What is the foundation of your writing?

You are unique. There is no one on this earth like you. Put yourself on display for the rest of us to see. We want to know who you are, how life has impacted you, and how you are turning your blessings and curses into a life worth sharing.

Emerging Talent

Today separates my successful future from my less than fruitful past. My hands contain some writing ability. My limited success has not limited my ability to grow my talent as a writer.

The boulevard named Good Writer is still around the corner from me, but I am headed in the write direction. Isn't it cool that as writers we can only get better?

How gifted are you as a writer? What tools do you need to enhance your God-given talent?

Just as Mount Massive emerged from behind this hill into my sightline, I know that your writings will appear before our very eyes.

Insurmountable Hope

One sentiment enables me to move forward in touching my communities: every article I write is better than the last one. Wow, stop and think about that for a moment. If I get to wake up tomorrow, and the next day, then the future is as bright as the opportunity that I give myself to make an impact.

I call this hope insurmountable because I truly believe that my writing will become better and better and better. History shows that. My heart tells me that. My earnings page reveals it as well.

My future is hope-filled because I want to become a better writer. I want to use my passion to show my neighbors around the world, including you, that life is good. As a writer I will turn my life's tragedies into triumphs, instilling still more hope.

What keeps you going as a writer?

The Tallest Peak is You

Pure passion. Ultimate purpose. Tested experience. Emerging talent. Insurmountable hope. These five pillars lead us back to the computer screen day by day. But one peak stands taller than the rest.

You are you and no one else is.

You are a real beauty.

Write Your Story Today

When you think your have a story to tell but you can't seem to figure how to get past the thoughts in your mind its so important to follow some very fundamental steps. Of all moving from the thought to the action is necessary.

Remember the analogy of the road map. You have a plan to go from NY to LA, you want to go and you have purchased a road map. Now, does that mean you are done? Of course not, we know that to actually go from NY to LA you have to get in the car, turn it on, put gas in it and get on the road.

Once on the road, you follow your road map. So, in order to move from the idea of writing a book to actually writing a book you can follow these steps, but you actually have to take out paper and put ink on that page! Utilize the following list:

Find a quiet place

Write from the heart

Start writing without worrying about structure, just write your thoughts

Draft pictures of the vision of your ideal book

Type and Edit later, after you feel you are finished with your writing

Don't ask anyone's advice, these are your thoughts, not their thoughts

Don't be discouraged if your thoughts look disorganized at first, have faith and visualize the results you want

Give you're writing the time and focus you need to get the job done. It's better than catching up on American Idol!

Find the right self-publishing option

Let's publish!

Writing: The Fire Within

When I set out to write, it is like a fire, a consuming flame. I have written many works in my soon to be 14 years of writing, and many wonder what drives my passion. I think of writing as my calling, my gift. When other people have said "do something else" that only pushed my passion for writing further. To me the passion is key, many might find reading boring, but I am not here for them. I am here for those whose passion for reading burns as searing hot as my desire to write.

I have always strived to push myself to new places, new unexplored territory of the mind.

Testing, reaching, grasping for what some may think are impossible goals.I desire to teach as well as write, to reach people in a way that grasps them and shakes them awake.

In my personal life, I am intensely private, even to the point of being called eccentric, strange as I am only 21. I open up to very few, through writing I feel I can open up more freely.I embraced the calling to write at an early age and have never lost the desire. I write as freely as breathing.

As far as what I write, Poetry is one of my greatest passions, I have never really tried to limit what I write, I have found it is best to leave all doors of exploration and expression open.

I try to let the writing flow as it will, as I am inspired so I write.

So long as I am able, I will write, I will express, I was told many times they'd likely have to pry my fingers from my writing utensils,if that is how it is meant to be, then so be it when the time comes. Others have been known to "blog till they drop" and to me I just as soon be writing as eating, both are equally essential to my life, to all who read this Thank you, and most especially to those who are my avid readers.

Take care and God Bless.

Chemistry of a Poet

Poetry is defined as a type of literature in which the sound and meaning of language are combined to create ideas and feelings. Typically there are three main kinds of poetry:

lyric

narrative

dramatic

Even though lyrical poetry by far is the most common type of poetry I can honestly say that it is also a personal favorite.

I've learned that reading and writing poetry must all play hand in hand. To get the true understanding of poetry, it is important to feel what is written. Emotions and past experiences play a vital role in a poet's writings. Reflections of the past and present also contribute to a poet's outcome. Poetry is a passion, a love much greater than life itself. A poem isn't always clear or affects a certain reader as it would another. But a true poet comes from within, illustrating feelings or ideas and searching for other souls that grasp an understanding.

There are many talented poets that have taken advantage of this commonly misunderstood literature. Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, William Shakespeare and E.A. Poe are just a few of the most talented poets from past to present. Each made history with the writings of their personal expressions and experiences of love, joy, pain, struggle and fears. Being a poet has many advantages. At that present time, that very moment, that very second, every feeling and emotion is sincere. Every idea and every thought is an original.

Because of this one on one feeling, the tendency of being secluded on a desert island suddenly becomes a reality. Poetry indeed is a true form of art and with rhythm and sound; the elements are just like music. A written expression best describes a personal poem. A hobby that is found to be most enjoyable when time allows peace and serenity. It is then where an inner voice speaks to your mind that flows through a pen onto paper. Personal feelings are now enjoyed once you've read what has been written. This is the make up of a true poet and that is what I am. Please follow me as I give you a glimpse of my chemistry.

Are You a True Poet?

You may ask why I say such harsh things about conventional poetry,
I do so because I believe that poets should not be ashamed to say
"I have a thought on my mind, here it is."
I believe poetry is an art form that needs to stand up and have guts.
It needs to speak its mind without fear. This commentary I am writing for one reason.

To get my fellow poets to write with passion and purpose.
I want to read poetry with depth and meaning.
Poetry with strength, not poetry that is frail and incompetent that is void.

I get tired of picking up books of poetry only to see that the writer seems
to be writing out of obligation more than passion.
If you have nothing to say, why write?
If you have no passion for the art form, why write?

My point is defy convention, speak your mind with boldness.
It does not have to have perfect rhyme to be a great poem.
No matter what the subject you are writing on,

Always be courageous

I have written for 13 years, few poets in all that time have grabbed my attention.
There are some though that have. I recognize passion for the art form.
Do not write just to say you are a Poet.
Write because you love it and you have something to say.
If you are a true poet, one with passion, it will be obvious.

Throughout my experience with this site, I have also been trying to gauge what articles are read the most. As many of you know, it seems that some articles become popular overnight while others seem to rarely be viewed more than once or twice.

I have found that there are several factors as to why this occurs. Some of these factors follow:

 Popular Writers

If your name falls under this category, your articles will be read more for the logical fact that your name is simply more highly visible than writers who are not listed as the most popular. It is much easier to click these names than it is to search and look for an author not listed. In addition, reading what popular writers write about can help give you ideas and help improve your writing skills along the way. To become a better writer you must not only write everyday, but you must read as much as possible.

 Titles

Titles do matter. They grab the reader's attention and make all the difference between whether they take the extra two seconds to click on your article. Try to see what is popular. Try to come up with unique titles. Bold, strong statements are striking. Inspirational and romantic titles are popular as well.

 Pictures

Although I rarely use them myself, (I will start to use them more) I have found that many of the most viewed and popular articles have great, appropriate pictures that help keep you interested in the article. They also help to keep your reader's attention and keep them coming back for more.

 Subject

I have also noticed that some of my most popular articles are the ones that revolve around health, travel and inspiration. These are two of my most popular articles:

B12 Shots:The Newest Energy Booster

Cultural Differences: A Glimpse of South Korea

 Reading other writer's work:

One of the best ways to lift you up is to lift others up along the way. Again, we are all a common community of talented writers. When you help out your fellow writers they want to help lift you up as well. Be loyal to reading their work and they will return the gesture a hundredfold. Try to always be positive when you leave comments. We all are learning everyday how to be better writers. There is no need to tear another person's work down. As the old saying says, “If you have nothing nice to say, do not say anything at all.”

Taking more time and attention with each article.

When more care and attention to detail is put into each article, I have found that these articles become very popular. You must be sure to write in a clear, unfettered fashion so that your message comes across easily to the reader.

 Bullet points & Numbering

Sometimes it is easier to follow an article that is laid out in a bullet pointed or numbered structure because your eye can follow it more readily. It is like a guide to keep your eyes on track and interested in the information being provided. It is another tool like adding pictures that will help get your articles more views!

 Specialty

I have also noticed that many popular writers tend to write about the same subjects. They are writing for clear cut audiences and this is a great way to develop a faithful reading audience. Much like how one looks forward to a favorite television program, looking forward to your favorite writer, who writes about your favorite subject is a wonderful addition and treat for a reader.

 Respond to Comments

Many readers revisit articles that they have left comments on. They might have asked a question or simply want to know if you care about what they have said. Leave a comment letting them know how important their words are to you and any other thing you want to express. Without readers writers are nothing. We need our readers. Comments do make a world of a difference in lifting us up; they help us to not only continue forward with our passion, but to also improve our art form. They need to know how important they are to us.

 Talent

And, last but not least, of course, when you have great writing skills talent cannot be denied and you will start to develop a faithful audience who looks forward to your work and sharing your work.

These are just some of the things I have learned and noticed through my observations. I hope they are helpful to you and give you more food for thought on the next pieces you decide to write. Or maybe it will help you write your very first piece for Triond.

Writing: A Matter of Passion

I have been a writer since I was eight. Since I was eighteen, I have published several books of poetry. One of the biggest challenges I have faced as a writer has been dealing with being my own worst critic.

Alot of people say "Get a real Job" I say writing is my lifeblood and my passion, I have nurtured it, I love it, and at times have been controversial.I believe the passion of a writer bleeds through into not only their writing, but everything else that they do.

I may not have the "Midas Touch" in some people's opinion but that's fine so long as my writing reaches somebody. Whatever the reason, whether it's because they can relate or are struggling with similar issues as I have faced. My goal has always been to share the gift of writing with others so they can share it's joy.

For instance, have you ever sat down with a book you just couldn't put down or seen a film you just had to see again because you loved it so much or it inspired you in some way?

That is how I feel about writing, I want my readers to feel the emotion spilling onto the pages.

For my fellow authors, I hope this encourages you all to renew your love for the art of writing. Whether you write poetry, novels, short stories, Haiku, prose or just short articles, as long as you have the passion and the talent, I say keep it up, you'll make it and thanks to my many inspirations over the years.

Oedipus the King

? You pray to the gods? Let me grant your prayers.? This quote helps to describe the overall description of Oedipus? character in Oedipus the King written by Sophocles. Throughout Oedipus the King the ideas and themes of fate, irony, and reason reoccur numerous times. Oedipus believes in fate but he believes more in his own abilities and actions to determine his future. Irony is evident in many forms such as verbal, dramatic, and situational. Since, Oedipus relies on himself he believes in his own reason and wisdom in making all of his decisions. Sophocles is a strong believer in destiny, but also offers the alternative in Oedipus in that he believes more in himself than in fate and he proves this in many ways throughout the play.

As the idea of fate is brought forth by Oedipus going to the Oracle, it is clear that Oedipus believes in the idea of fate but feels more strongly in himself than in the idea of fate. Upon realizing that what the Oracle has said is coming true, the truth of what has happened has still not struck home, he will not abandon his faith in himself but will see himself out to the end. To the very end of this play, Oedipus is still insisting that he is the one who has blinded himself, that he will accept his exile, that he is fully prepared to accept the self-destructive consequences of what he has done. I have observed that one key to Oedipus's character is that he will not compromise. He must see life through on his own terms, no matter what the cost. He is prepared to acknowledge no authority outside his own will. Hence, if he is to be satisfied the world must answer to him. As his situation gets more complicated and things do not work out as he has imagined they might, Oedipus does not adapt, change, and learn. He becomes more and more determined to see the problem through on his own terms; he becomes increasingly inflexible. Having accepted the responsibility for saving Thebes, he will on his own see the matter through, without compromise, without lies, without deceit. Anyone who suggests that he proceed differently is simply an obstacle who must be overcome. That attitude, as we know, leads to the most horrific conclusions.

The use of many types of irony such as verbal, dramatic, and situational ad to the complexity of the book. For example, when Oedipus says: ?

So will I fight on the gods? side,
And on the side of the slain man!
But my curse be on the one who did this, whether he is alone
Or conceals his share in it with others.
Let him be free of no misery if he share my house
Or sit at my hearth and I have knowledge of it.
On myself may it fall, as I have called it down!

Oedipus makes this statement about the killer of King Lauis, cursing the killer not knowing he was the killer. This is an example of dramatic irony. Another example of irony is that when towards the end Oedipus gouges his eyes out and becomes blind. This is an example of irony because Oedipus has been blind or ignorant to all the circumstances and happenings around him. He is blind to the fact that everything the Oracle has said. The gouging of his eyes is symbolic of him being figuratively ?blind.?

There are several points in the play where Oedipus acts with reason. The first such point occurs when he is asked by his followers to help save Thebes. He acts with reason when he immediately decides to heed to their demands and find help for them. However, he may also have been deciding to do this through passion. His need for his land to be perfectly normal might have prompted this immediate decision. Reason also occurs through the character of Oedipus himself. He has a heroic confidence in his own abilities, and he has good reason for such confidence, both from his own sense of past achievements and from the very high regard everyone has of those achievements. Reason also occurs through the character of Oedipus himself. He has a heroic confidence in his own abilities, and he has good reason for such confidence, both from his own sense of past achievements and from the very high regard everyone has of those achievements. He is conscious of himself as a great man. He feels he can achieve anything.

The reoccurring theme that we can deny fate and go our own way and make our own path, and that we keep trying even though it doesn?t work out, shows that Sophocles believes in fate. I believe that Sophocles shows this by having Oedipus fail in the end. If Sophocles believed that we could do it alone he would have had Oedipus prevail over all circumstances. I also think that Sophocles believes in reason rather than making choices without thinking. When Sophocles wrote the novel, Oedipus the King, he used a irritated tone to describe how society tries to change their fate, he achieved this by using many types of irony, and I believe that Sophocles effectively achieved his goal.
