<title>Triond Etiquette: What’s Your Purpose of Being Here?</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/Triond-Etiquette-Whats-Your-Purpose-of-Being-Here.340337</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>I&amp;rsquo;m back for another refreshing and idealistic view of the recent growing trends with the Triond community. As you all know, I love to stir the pot and I do it well. My opinions are not to be taken as an offense but, a starting point or even an ending point of why you choose to write on Triond.</p>
<h3><strong>The Growing Trends</strong></h3>
<p>I&amp;rsquo;d like everyone to take a moment and count the amount of friends you have in your friends sections, now I would like you to count how many of those friends actually read your work.</p>
<p>If you have a ratio of 10:120 then I&amp;rsquo;m sure you have the same types of concerns as many of the other writers. &amp;nbsp;However, it has come to my attention that many writers are leaving due to the lack of page views that they personally say was by no fault of their own.</p>
<p>Did they make the most of the platform that was presented to them? And if they did, did they personally market themselves outside of the realm of possibilities?</p>
<p>It may be time to update your friend&amp;rsquo;s area and start making it a bit easier to keep up with your most loyal readers in the community section. The answer I use is &amp;ldquo;delete, delete, delete&amp;rdquo; for the ones that have fallen off the radar or just don&amp;rsquo;t take the time to read others pieces.</p>
<h3><strong>Lets Link to Each Other: The Wrong way to do it</strong></h3>
<p>There are so many ways to grow your content besides the use of social bookmarking. Personally, I love linking to material that is both interesting and of course pertinent to my own.</p>
<p>It&amp;rsquo;s always nice to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperlink" target="_blank">hyperlink</a> one of your articles to a previous user or an older article with the same type or related content. Remember that linking to an article that has little to do with the article you are writing is a dreadful way to get more views.</p>
<p>If you look at the analytics of Google, when your page is indexed by search engines and the links are basically useless, the search engines see no reason to rank or crawl your pages.</p>
<h3><strong>Lets Link to Each Other: </strong><strong>The Right Way</strong></h3>
<p>Recently, some of my best buddies on Triond and I started linking to each other based on our content.</p>
<p>Anytime <a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Chris+Stonecipher" target="_blank">Chris Stonecipher</a> has a recipe or article that pertains to my material, he links it and I do the same for him in return. As far as I have seen, I have received more views and so has he.</p>
<p>Rummage through the lists of articles written by your Triond friends and see if you can&amp;rsquo;t do the same.</p>
<h3><strong>Do you want your voice Heard?</strong></h3>
<p>As writers, our main purpose is to educate and entertain however; my point goes back to the present state of Triond.&amp;nbsp; Are you trying to be recognized for your writing talents or the ability to write as many top 10 lists submitted in a day?</p>
<p>For the past month, I have stumbled upon some really amazing talents on Triond and my opinion is that their gifts are not being appreciated as they should be.</p>
<p>For that purpose, I set up a Blog called <a href="http://www.laurenaxelrod.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Friends Revolution</a> to showcase the amazing talents of some of the best writers on Triond that may not be getting the recognition that they deserve.</p>
<p>A perfect example of one of these writers is <a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Lost+in+Arizona" target="_blank">Lost in Arizona</a> who wrote a piece on the most <a href="http://www.purpleslinky.com/Trivia/History/Most-Memorable-Photographs-of-All-Time.335499" target="_blank">memorable pictures taken of all time</a>. How does this differ from the typical top ten lists you ask?</p>
<p>If you actually take the time to read the content instead of skimming over the pictures and leaving simple comments like &amp;ldquo;good post&amp;rdquo; or &amp;ldquo;good read&amp;rdquo;, you would realize that the emotional word painting conveyed in this article brought me to tears.</p>
<p>This was my exact comment at the time and my most honest opinion:</p>
<p>&amp;ldquo;All of these pictures really brought tears to my eyes. I was so enthralled with the photos and text that the music playing on my computer disappeared. I think this is one of your best and should be number one on the Hot List!&amp;rdquo;</p>
<h3><strong>Top Ten Writers Who Haven&amp;rsquo;t been Realized, Yet!</strong></h3>
<p>I have come to the realization that the best writers on Triond pay homage to other great writers and this is what I am trying to do.</p>
<p>I have chosen some writers on the basis of what they are exactly trying to convey with their pieces and should be receive more recognition:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/James+DeVere" target="_blank">James DeVere&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Enzo+Silvestri" target="_blank">Enzo Silvestri</a><br /><a href="users/Bruce+A+Tucker" target="_blank">Bruce A Tucker</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Chris+Stonecipher" target="_blank">Chris Stonecipher</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/papaleng" target="_blank">Papaleng</a><br /><a href="users/Robert+Brian+Garza" target="_blank">Robert Brian Garza</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/John+Turner" target="_blank">John Turner</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Countrymom" target="_blank">Countrymom</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/marjoram1234" target="_blank">Marjoram1234</a><br /><a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Virginia+Morgan" target="_blank">Virginia Morgan</a></p>
<p>If you have any further questions for me or you would like to check out <a href="http://www.laurenaxelrod.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Friends Revolution</a>, a blog that showcases some really wonderful talents on Triond and the online community feel free to shoot me a line.</p>
<p>Regards and Blessing</p>

<title>Blogging Don'ts</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/Blogging-Donts.339817</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>Blogging, all like blogging and all will like to make their blog successful. If you are new to blogging and like to make your blog successful, then you want to read this article. Because here i have given some mistakes which bloggers do while blogging. To make your blog to run smooth then you want to avoid these mistakes.Lets see the mistakes one by one..</p>
<p><strong>Viewing statistics of your blog</strong>:- <br /> Most of the new bloggers will see their blog statistics every day. I am not saying that you should not see your blog statistics, it is important to see the statistics. But as a new blogger you should not see your blog statistics everyday, because if you see your blog statistics, then your mind will always think about increasing your blog traffic not to <strong>write content</strong>. Writing content is very very important than increasing traffic. You can achieve any amount of traffic to your blog, if you have good contents. So as a new blogger, visit your blog statistics once a week and write contents daily.</p>
<p><strong>Viewing How much you have earned</strong>:-<br /> This is another mistake what bloggers do while starting a blog. All bloggers (even i) will see their earnings everyday. It is a mistake, to see earnings everyday. Because, this will deviate your concentration from writing contents and make you to type "how to increase my earnings" in google. So, as a new blogger you should not see your earnings until you get some good traffic to your blog, your main concentration should be in writing contents.<br /> <br /> <strong>Using others works</strong>:-<br /> Most of the new bloggers don't know about Plagiarism. They just visit some blogs and Ctrl+C some articles which they like and Ctrl+V that article in their blogs. If you do this, then you are considered as a cheater and also you can't make your blog famous by copying others work.<br /> <br /> If the real owner of the contents find that their article has copied, then you will be start getting problems<a href="http://www.blogstuff.co.cc/2008/09/ways-to-avoid-plagiarism.html" target="_blank"></a>.The problems depends on the owner of article. They can just warn you or they can complaint about you to your hosting provider. So, to be a good blogger, don't use others works for your blog, create your own. If you can't then stop blogging.<br /> <br /> <strong>Submitting your contents to social bookmarking sites</strong>:-<br /> As a new blogger, your main traffic source will be social bookmarking websites. So most of the new bloggers will submit all their articles to social bookarking websites to get traffic. By this way they will get traffic with some problems.<br /> <br /> If you submit all your contents (from your site) to social bookmarking sites, then they will think that you are spamming them and so there are chances for banning your url. If your url was banned from some best social bookmarking sites like <a href="http://www.digg.com/" target="_blank">Digg</a>, <a href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/" target="_blank">Stumbleupon</a>, etc., then you are lossing 1000s of traffic. So to have a constant flow of traffic to your blog, use anyone best social bookmarking site to promote your blog and submit your best contents to them (not all). It is more than enough to make your blog successful.<br /> <br /> These are the some of common mistakes which most of the bloggers do, while they are starting a blog. To make a blog successful, these mistakes should be avoided. And also don't forget that, only your contents will make your blog successful, so keep writing, keep on writing, to attain success. Happy Blogging....</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FBlogging-Donts.339817"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FBlogging-Donts.339817" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>How to Write Content That Attracts Visitors</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/How-to-Write-Content-That-Attracts-Visitors.329467</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p><img src="http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2008/11/03/going-up-green-256_1.png" alt="" /><br /><br />The key to bringing in visitors from social networks and social bookmarking sites is by offering quality (or popular) content. Depending on what you are writing/posting about, some niches bring in much more traffic then others. For instance, "funny pictures" or "cool stuff" certainly brings in more traffic from sites like StumbleUpon than say long boring tutorials or dry articles. So depending on what niche you are in, the amount of traffic will fluctuate (unless you can publish groundbreaking and eye-catching posts within your "boring" niche).</p>
<p>The first thing to know is that internet surfers love images. To attract visitors, publish a post with a "gallery" of funny, interesting, or stunning pictures. A post like that will surely be passed around the web via email and other methods. If you are just writing articles, be sure to include an intriguing image towards the top of your text to draw in the eye.</p>
<p>Similar to images, embedded videos do a great job of capturing viewers. Video repository sites such as <a href="http://youtube.com/" target="_blank">YouTube</a> have a huge selection of videos you can choose from to insert into your post. However, make sure that when you include a video that is relevant to the topic of your article/blog. If the video is interesting enough, most visitors will take a look around your site for more.</p>
<p>Another thing to know, is that readers love lists. However, the trick is to get the right balance when publishing a "list post". Be sure your list is of something interesting and relevent to your niche. You don't want to publish a list that is too short, or it won't be as captivating. Long lists generally do well, because if they are useful enough, readers will end up bookmarking them to return for later reference. Make sure that the items in your list are not so overwhelming. If you can, just try to include a link and brief description. If you find that you must write out large amounts of text for each list item, include an image or video.</p>
<p>Another great thing to do for long articles is to break them down into separate "bite-size" chunks. You can do this by either publishing different parts of the post on different dates (this works well if you already have a large reader base) or you can separate the post by using headers to divide up sections.</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FHow-to-Write-Content-That-Attracts-Visitors.329467"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FHow-to-Write-Content-That-Attracts-Visitors.329467" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>How to Link Articles: Including Some HTML Basics</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/How-to-Link-Articles-Including-Some-HTML-Basics.308659</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<h3>Luckily, it's a simple process!</h3>
<p><img src="http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2008/10/21/0_51.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/robyn-gallagher/338240235/" target="_blank">Image Source</a></p>
<p><a href="../../../" target="_blank">Triond </a>makes adding links to your articles a simple process. All you need to do is repeat the following structure:</p>
<p>Article name (followed by the) http article address</p>
<p>And, wah lah! - You're done.</p>
<p>Just as you add links for the pictures in your articles, follow the same pattern for links to your articles.</p>
<h3>Can you place links anywhere in your article?</h3>
<p><img src="http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2008/10/21/1_8.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jefield/1119389/" target="_blank">Image Source<br /></a></p>
<p>Yes, sometimes it's a good idea to place relevant links within your article. Just follow the directions above and add them to any place in the body of your work.</p>
<p>Sometimes it's best to add links within the context of your writing, while other times it's a good idea to entertain your readers with great work and then leave them with direct ways to find more of your work. If they love one of your articles, they are sure to love your other articles as well. Make it easy for them to find more of your work that is subject matter specific.</p>
<p>In addition, sometimes it's a good idea to add links that have nothing to do with the subject of your article, especially with some of your more innovative, unique pieces. This can entice and intrigue the reader and make them need to read on. Use your best judgment, ingenuity, and gifts to fullest extent! The world and everyone in it will only be better as a result.</p>
<h3>My article has been published, but the link has not been properly formatted.</h3>
<p><img src="http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2008/10/21/2_5.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/plindberg/2872583288/" target="_blank">Image Source<br /></a></p>
<p>I have found this to be the case sometimes. I realize that the Triond staff is very busy and sometimes they can make a mistake here and there. I know I've made more mistakes than I care to recount. So, I have found that if I simply add a note at the top of the Word document that I submit for publishing that gives instructions to make all the links like they do for the picture source links, I am quite pleased with the results.</p>
<p>When you write any note to Triond editors, I find it's best to make sure to add that the note needs to be taken out of the article, just to be on the safe side. I have worked as an editor before, and it is not an easy job. I commend them for all the amazing work they are able to produce on our behalf. It is quite extraordinary when you think about it. New writers sign up for this site everyday and yet, somehow, they continue to be able to publish our work within 24 hours. They are a blessing to all of us.</p>
<h3>Do you have a blog?</h3>
<p><img src="http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2008/10/21/11_2.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/liewcf/971674606/" target="_blank">Image Source<br /></a></p>
<p>If you have a blog and want to create a link, then you need to know a little HTML.</p>
<p>When it comes to computers and technology, I must admit, I am typically all thumbs, but through trial and error, I was able to successfully figure it out that HTML is truly like any other language, once you learn a few things you start to realize that when codes are placed in a specific order (like letters in the alphabet), you can create many intriguing things!</p>
<p>So, if you want to link your articles to your blog format and/or posts, all you need to do is the following:</p>
<p>(PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT TRIOND'S PUBLISHING FEATURE RE-FORMATS THE FORMAT BELOW I HAD TO ADD A SPACE BETWEEN THE "&amp;lt;" SYMBOL THE FORMAT.&amp;nbsp; PLEASE USE THE FORMULAS BELOW, BUT TAKE THE SPACES OUT.)</p>
<p>&amp;lt; a href="<a href="&amp;lt;a href=" target="_blank">www.YourHTTPArticleAddress.com</a>" &amp;gt;Your Article Name&amp;lt; /a &amp;gt;</p>
<p>The first part of the formula above within the &amp;ldquo;&amp;lt; &amp;gt;&amp;rdquo; symbols is the destination and the second part is what shows up on your article as the link to click on.</p>
<p>Thus, the link would look like this:</p>
<p>Your Article Name</p>
<h4>And, in closing, here are a few more HTML coding tips that make a difference in your work:</h4>
<p>Add spacing to your work.</p>
<p>Place <br />after the coding sentence above and you will add a space.</p>
<p><br />&amp;lt; br / &amp;gt;= space.</p>
<p>Do you want to bold or italicize something in your work?</p>
<p><strong>&amp;lt; b &amp;gt; <strong>= bold<br /></strong></strong>&amp;lt; b / &amp;gt; = end bold</p>
<p>&amp;lt; i &amp;gt; = italicize</p>
<p>&amp;lt; /i &amp;gt; = end italicizing</p>

<title>10 Most Important Things That an Online Writer Should Do to Become Successful</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/10-Most-Important-Things-That-an-Online-Writer-Should-Do-to-Become-Successful.308183</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>Anyone who has really put any serious thought in the idea of becoming an Internet content writer should understand that success doesn't come easily. Like with anything-worthwhile doing online or in the real world there are techniques that are used to earn popularity and a nice income. Some of these techniques have to do with marketing and other techniques have to do with writing or what a writer chooses to write about that leads to the potential future success of that author.</p>
<p>Let's take a moment to review the steps needed to become successful and a popular writer on the Internet.</p>
<h3>Rule #1: Set Realistic Goals</h3>
<p>Before, you ever set-off to find an online publisher to publish your completed work, you should sit-down and write out a list of goals that you want to achieve each day, week, month or year. Do not set unrealistic goals that are impossible to achieve, especially if you have never published anything, anywhere before. You just have no clue how things really work in the online publishing industry, until you have spent some quality time testing the system and testing yourself, so to learn how the publisher that you have chosen to write for and publish with works.</p>
<p>When setting goals, do not focus on the number of future readers (views) that your article, poem or story is going to receive, because you cannot control that outcome. Only set your goals to what you can control and set no goals on what you cannot control.</p>
<h3>Rule #2: Choosing An Online Publisher</h3>
<p>There are hundreds of online publishing opportunities on the Internet, some that will pay you to write for their websites, ezines or newsletters and other publishing opportunities do not pay in money, but they pay in exposure or recognition, which in some ways can be better than earning an income. As a writer, you need to decide what you are writing to accomplished (see &amp;ldquo;Rule #1&amp;rdquo;) before you decide which publisher that you are going to write for and publish your writing with.</p>
<p>If you are wanting to earn an income, then you need to understand that you earn money usually two ways, either through 1) the number of views (readers) that your article, poem or story receive in 30-days or 2) by accepting an one-time lump-sum for the completed work.</p>
<p>There are pros and cons to each of these choices and they are: a) earning an income from total number of views received, usually does not generate a huge sum of money in a short amount of time, but it will consistently generate a small sum of money month-after-month for as long as the article, poem or story is still receiving readers (views) online.</p>
<p>Writing for an online publisher whom pays an one-time lump sum of money for each word, page or completed assignment, then it doesn't matter how many views that the published work receives, because the publisher has agreed to pay you a set amount for your work. Each publisher sets their own terms and pays different amounts depending on the assignment or who the author is or how well known (popular) the author is online or offline.</p>
<p>If you choose to publish your writing using a publisher that does not pay any money, but they do offer to pay you in reader recognition or exposure, then you must understand that you are actually building a fan base that you can attract to other works that you have published for earning an income.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.triond.com" target="_blank">Triond</a> is the publisher that I write for and from my experience it is the best and the easiest publisher to write and publish with. Triond has a large and very friendly writing community that offers a wide range of interesting topics, poems, stories and my favorite articles to choose from and by some of the most talented writers from around the globe. Check it out for yourself and if you decide to join, then look me up, Nelson Doyle (<a href="http://www.triond.com/users/Nelson+Doyle" target="_blank">http://www.triond.com/users/Nelson+Doyle</a>) and I will be a friend that you can ask questions to, so to help you get started in this business on the right foot.</p>
<h3>Rule #3: Choosing a Pen Name</h3>
<p>Your pen name lets people know who you are, just like your real (birth) name introduce who you are in the real world. The important thing that you must understand about creating a pen name is, is that your pen name should be easy to remember and easy to lookup in standard search engines. If you create a pen name that is hard to spell or that uses numbers or a combination of numbers and letters, then it will make it much more difficult for the average person to remember especially if they liked your work, but just cannot remember where to find it on the Internet. It is better to use your real name or a name that is relatively common or easy to spell, so that the reader can locate your work using a search engine.</p>
<h3>Rule #4: Creating Your Online Image</h3>
<p>Most online publishers that you can write for, gives an author an opportunity to setup a profile page, so that potential readers and other writers can learn who you are and what you like to write about. Setting up your personal profile page should not be rushed through and should be carefully written, edited and updated regularly, because your first impression may be the only impression that you have to encourage your visitors to take the time to read some of your published work.</p>
<p>If your profile page is loaded with misspellings, incomplete sentences, poor grammar or anything that makes it hard for a visitor to quickly sum up exactly who you are or what you write about, then that visitor will most likely leave without reading anything that you have published online. In many cases, this is the only time that you have to make a good first impression on a visitor who has never read any of your work and if your profile page is hard to read, then chances are the other things that you have written will be much of the same.</p>
<h3>Rule #5: Writing With Purpose</h3>
<p>Many writers write about a broad range of topics (including myself), but this is not necessarily the best or the most profitable way to make a sustainable income month-after-month, because this practice is all too often a hit and miss style of writing. Some topics such as travel, health and electronics attract a much larger audience than topics that are related to holidays, poetry, personal stories, or sports in general. Of course, to really get an understanding about which topics that will reach the broadest audience takes some time and research and trial-and-error to figure out, and even then it is still relatively a guessing game.</p>
<p>On the other hand, if a writer specializes in a specific topic, such as travel or health, just as examples, then in time the writer will begin to attract and retain the audience that enjoys reading and following that author's work. The audience in this case, will understand what they are going to get when they follow this author's blog or writings and usually will not be confused by the no-rhyme-or-reason writing style of writers who write about anything and everything that strikes their fancy, and this is a good long-term writing style that can potentially draw the largest audience over time.</p>
<h3>Rule #6: Networking</h3>
<p>It is extremely important that when writing for an income on the Internet, that new and veteran writers get to know each other in their publishing communities. Making friends with some of the writers in a community can benefit new writers, because many times they will find a writer who is willing to share tips to improve the writing experience in that publishing community overall. However, try to avoid becoming a pest or asking too many questions, because most of the serious writers (top writers) are very busy as this is the way that they make a living and asking too many questions could result in receiving no answers due to the amount of time it requires to answer them. And, try to avoid asking authors &amp;ldquo;how much money that they earn&amp;rdquo;, because this is usually a private matter and it doesn't necessarily reflect what the average Internet content writer will earn himself or herself.</p>
<p>I have been writing for Triond for just a little over a year and have put in countless hours into marketing and writing over 100 articles, poems and stories and due to the fact that Triond pays according to the number of views that each article (on an individual basis) receives, I have been able to earn a very nice income each month. However, it wasn't always like it is now.</p>
<p>The first month, I earned less than $7.00 for the entire month, but that was before I understood how to market my work and what topics generally pay the most, but just like you will have to do in your own time, I had to take the time to learn the business. This takes a lot of time to do correctly and you cannot be scared to try new things to attract readers. It will either work out the way that you expected it would or it will blow-up in your face and you will just have to try something else. Just never give up trying or you will never succeed.</p>
<h3>Rule #7: Marketing</h3>
<p>Marketing and networking is not exactly the same thing and different techniques are required to be successful. A writer can visit Myspace or Facebook or make friends within the publishing community that they write for, to network successfully, but marketing is something completely different and separate from networking.</p>
<p>There are thousands of ways both online and offline to execute a marketing plan, but a few of the best ways to conduct marketing on the Internet would be to do one or more of the following:</p>
<ol>
<li>Join social bookmarking websites such as; StumbleUpon, Digg, Faves, etc. and bookmark your writings and websites that you visit, so to share them with your friends and browsers (people who just read or visit websites that other members have bookmarked) in the networks that you have joined. </li>
<li>Build a website or web page to promote your writings and other authors that you enjoy.</li>
<li>Start a newsletter and link to your writings, but use the newsletter to share information that your subscribers can only obtain by subscribing to the newsletter.</li>
<li>Join forums that are geared at the topics that you write about and participate in these forums, as you normally would do if you were not a writer. Most forums allow their members to link to their favorite website or websites in their member profile page and this can drive a lot of new readers, especially if you are an active member who plays by their rules and do not practice spamming the forums.</li>
<li>Make friends with other popular bloggers and ask them if they would be interested in reading and possibly linking to your blog or writings. You can always return the favor by writing about or linking to their blogs in one of your future articles or blogs. This way you would target a new audience and your blogger friends will have the same opportunity to do the same.</li>
</ol>
<h3>Rule #8: To Read or Not To Read</h3>
<p>Most writers belonging to a publishing community want their friends to read the articles or blogs that they write and after reading, then they want you to leave a comment about what you have read. This is all good if you have time to read their writing and complete your own writing.</p>
<p>Remember, if you decide to read and leave comments about your friends' writings, then most of the time they will read and leave comments for your writings, too. However, if you have a lot of friends, too many friends, then it may not be possible to read and leave comments on everyone's work, because there just isn't enough time in the day to do it and finish your own writings that you have been working on. And, if you are writing for a living, then you just may not have the time to read as much as you or they would like.</p>
<h3>Rule #9: What Pays The Most?</h3>
<p>Since the publishers pay writers and the advertisers pay the publishers, then articles or blogs written about topics with high revenue potential are what pays the most. Let's say that you write about free music and you use popular keywords such as; Free Music, Songs, Downloads, Musicians, then you are not going to attract the high paying advertisers, because anytime you are using the keyword &amp;ldquo;Free&amp;rdquo;, then there isn't anything high value about that keyword. However, if you are writing an article about &amp;ldquo;MP3 Players&amp;rdquo; whether it be a product review or the best places to purchase a &amp;ldquo;MP3 Player&amp;rdquo; for Christmas, then you will earn more, because advertisers are willing to pay more in order to potentially sell some expensive or inexpensive MP3 Players.</p>
<p>The difference of the two examples is, one example is targeting an audience that is looking to locate something for free and the other example is targeting an audience that may be interested in potentially purchasing a product. Advertisers are paying to receive a potential return on their investment and an advertiser will invest more when the perceived profit return is greater. When advertising a free product, then the potential profit return will be less than investing in advertising to sell a product or website that a consumer or visitor will actually buy and these advertisers are willing to pay more, because of the greater profit potential return from their advertising investment.</p>
<p>Generally, writing poetry or personal stories about your life or a fictional character will not earn as much money as writing about a specific product, place, website or company. Articles generally pay more than all other forms of writing, which includes most blog styles, but not all.</p>
<h3>Rule #10: Don't Give Up!</h3>
<p>Let's just face it, not every person has what it takes to become a successful Internet writer, because too many people just will throw up their arms and hands in defeat, before even giving it time to find an audience. Most people who start out writing on the Internet falsely believe that just because they have heard about a handful of people making a lot of money writing online, then they can do it also. However, it just doesn't work that way.</p>
<p>We have all heard about writers and bloggers making a full-time living writing articles and blogs on the Internet and we have thought that we can do the same, because in our minds it must be easy money. The things that we don't know about is what will prevent most of us from ever making any money much less the big money writing on the Internet.</p>
<p>Most writers who have become successful on the Internet has done so, because they have worked very hard writing good articles and marketing their work effectively and this all requires some time to learn and to implement. Some of these writers have dedicated a set number of hours to do nothing but writing and have dedicated some more hours to focus on their marketing and networking. These writers use tested marketing and networking techniques that other writers have written about and other writers are daring enough to invent new ways to attract a larger audience despite what they are testing may not work and that they have seemingly wasted some precious time that they could have used doing something that they already know has worked in the past. So, why would they want to invent a new technique to market or network their work without knowing exactly what the outcome could be, well because if it does work, then these writers will have a technique that is fresh and has not be seen everywhere already and this will give these writers a bit of an edge and potentially draw a larger audience to their work over time.</p>
<p>The majority of writers that start writing for an income this year, will probably have given up by the next year, because they either have no clue what it takes to become successful or they just do not want to do the work it requires to earn their way to the top. Most writers just starting out believe that writing on the Internet will be a quick and easy way to make a million dollars or something along those lines, but then reality sets in and they realize that they may have to work just as hard or harder than just working a 9 to 5 job in the real world and this scares them away.</p>
<p>Rule number 10 is probably the most important rule of all of the rules, because if you give up too soon or at all, then you will never be successful at this and if you give up on this, then what else are you willing to give up on, because it requires some actual work to become successful at doing?</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2F10-Most-Important-Things-That-an-Online-Writer-Should-Do-to-Become-Successful.308183"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2F10-Most-Important-Things-That-an-Online-Writer-Should-Do-to-Become-Successful.308183" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>Monitor Your Website and Blog Traffic</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Writing-Business/Opportunities/Monitor-Your-Website-and-Blog-Traffic.295827</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>There are several ways to effectively monitor your traffic on the Internet.&amp;nbsp; After a few years of research, the methods that work for me are: Google Analytics (a little difficult to navigate at first but you have to read the forums, the help files, M&amp;amp;P&amp;rsquo;s, etc.), Clicktale, and StatCounter.com.</p>
<p>Google Analytics can measure your site visitors&amp;rsquo; trends, loyalty, what browser they use, provide a map to show you exactly where your visitors are coming from, unique visitors, pageviews, the average time spent on a particular page, and various percentages, such as the percentage of new visits.</p>
<p>For example, you might see "397 visits came from 12 countries/territories."&amp;nbsp; Google Analytics will break it down country by country, state by state, and city by city.&amp;nbsp; Of the 397 visits listed in the example (a real life example for a 2-week time frame), 213 were "absolute unique visitors" so that means that 184 were return visitors.</p>
<p>Google also gives you the opportunity to block your own views so that your stats will not be distorted or misleading.</p>
<p>Another novel approach to monitoring your traffic is through a company called ClickTale.&amp;nbsp; With ClickTale, website owners add a small piece of JavaScript code to the page that you would like to have monitored.&amp;nbsp; The JavaScript collects browsing data and transmits it to the ClickTale servers for processing.</p>
<p>From the code, ClickTale creates movies of browsing sessions in minutes, and website owners can log-in securely at any time to view these movies (don&amp;rsquo;t worry about your private information being viewed because hackers can&amp;rsquo;t place JavaScript code on a site they do not control).</p>
<p>That's right!&amp;nbsp; Movies!&amp;nbsp; You can view recorded events of how people browse your website or blog.&amp;nbsp; You'll see what they clicked, when they clicked, and basically be able to follow their mouse movements as if you were looking over their shoulder as they browsed your website.&amp;nbsp; ClickTale will not interfere with the JavaScript used by other packages such as Google Analytics, and the company only records the actions that the visitor makes while browsing a specific website.&amp;nbsp; There is no audio or video recorded.</p>
<p>You can get more information about ClickTale <a href="http://www.clicktale.com" target="_blank">here</a><a href="http://aff.clicktale.com/scripts/signup.php?pid=63ca4421" target="_blank"><u></u></a></p>
<p>A third method to monitor your website traffic is by using the free service offered by Stat Counter. Stat Counter is a free and reliable invisible web tracker.&amp;nbsp; The company offers a highly configurable hit counter and real-time detailed web stats. All you do is insert a simple piece of our code on your web page or blog and you will be able to analyze and monitor all the visitors to your website in real-time.</p>
<p>The aforementioned methods will work for you and help you to get a complete grasp of your online ventures.&amp;nbsp; Many people give up in the early stages because they find the programs "user-unfriendly."&amp;nbsp; The problem is, most people want to jump right in and start swimming immediately without the lessons; or people want to walk before crawling.&amp;nbsp; Bottom line for success, you have to READ the instructions; you have to browse the forums for answers.&amp;nbsp; All the companies have help files and they are there for a reason.&amp;nbsp; You cannot call anyone for assistance.&amp;nbsp; Google has some contact numbers and if you are paying for google adwords you can get some phone help, but the free services are effective and they work quite well, but you're pretty much thrown in the water to eiter sink or swim.</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FWriting-Business%2FOpportunities%2FMonitor-Your-Website-and-Blog-Traffic.295827"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FWriting-Business%2FOpportunities%2FMonitor-Your-Website-and-Blog-Traffic.295827" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>Dont Write for Pay Per Post</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/Dont-Write-for-Pay-Per-Post.285515</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>This is my personal opinion, and I don&amp;rsquo;t know how many of you will agree with me on it. There are many websites coming up with the concept of paying per post. Most of the bloggers are attracted with that for getting the quick money without thinking broadly. I feel that it is always good to write for the publishing networks such as Triond rather than writing for the company which are paying for your post. What is the different? If you think slowly about what will happen in long run, you may see the better picture. Why I am saying like that?</p>
<p>There are some strategic reasons I can show you. Let say, you are writing a post for pay per post. The payment is fixed something like $5 or more. Again you should write for getting the next payment. If you think about what you are witting with them, you should write good thing about a product or website you don&amp;rsquo;t know or never used. You are writing about a thing you are not interested or about a thing you never used, and your payment is fixed even if your content touch the sky. Do you thing this is good?<br /><br />Now let say, you want to write something to publish using <a href="http://www.triond.com" target="_blank">Triond.</a> You have the freedom of selecting any content which you are interested. The payment for your work is not fixed. Let say you are getting just $.30 for the first month. You could reach $5 in two years at least. But even after that you are going to earn for the content. Isn't it? You will be getting money forever for your publication. In this case you are writing about the thing you know well. You have the freedom of saying your opinion to the world.</p>
<p>That is my entire message. Always write the thing you want no others want you to write. Don&amp;rsquo;t fix your income. Think broad. This is only my opinion. You are welcome to comment your concerns even if it is opposite to my opinion.</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FDont-Write-for-Pay-Per-Post.285515"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FDont-Write-for-Pay-Per-Post.285515" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>Why You Should Not Stop Writing</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Writing/Why-You-Should-Not-Stop-Writing.252635</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>Writing is a creative process. Were it visible, it would be so fascinating to watch this process! How letters stick together, face to face, to form words... how words fight with each other like children to stand in a line!</p>
<p>The least you gain from writing is the satisfaction of being a creator. It's almost like getting a glimpse of the ultimate Creator. And your highest gain can be a life changing experience. Your writing creates "you" as much as you create your writing. Ever wondered why all great leaders and highly successful people write diaries? They define themselves through writing. What they write about themselves "becomes" true for them.</p>
<p>Writing is a wonderful stress buster. No matter how good or bad a writer you are, the very process of writing requires you to harmonize your feelings with your thoughts. You begin to decipher your own thoughts. You begin to put your feelings in perspective. And by the time you cap your pen, you feel calm and relieved. So next time you are tensed or worried about something, just write. Write anything that comes to your mind. I can guarantee that you would run out of worries before you run out of words.</p>
<p>If you are a reasonably good writer, there are so many avenues for you to earn from your writing. Of course, there is the traditional way of writing a book or article for publication. You can also earn by working as a writer for a media company, website, ad agency, or marketing department. But these ways are open to only professional writers. Even if you are not a professional writer, and even if you cannot write frequently, there are several ways in which your writing can earn for you. There are a number of websites that pay you for submitting write-ups (Read <a href="http://www.writinghood.com/Writing-Business/Opportunities/10-Real-Internet-Companies-Where-the-Words-You-Write-Will-Pay-You.104050" target="_blank">this article</a> by Nelson to know more about earning from writing for websites.)</p>
<p>Also, your blog can earn for you if it becomes reasonably popular (Read <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/resources/marketing/online-marketing/how-to-make-money-from-your-blog-5-tips.aspx" target="_blank">this article</a> on the Microsoft site to know more about earning from your blog).</p>
<p>For me, money is not the biggest gain from writing. But did you ever realize that every time you write, you also increase your potential for earning? The more you write, the better you write. If you are in the communication field, your enhanced communication skill will have a big impact on your career. Even if you are in another field, is there any profession or career where good communication skill is not an asset? You may not be able to realize this gain immediately, but over a period you will see a marked difference.</p>
<p>So much for now. Till we meet next, happy writing :-).</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FWriting%2FWhy-You-Should-Not-Stop-Writing.252635"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FWriting%2FWhy-You-Should-Not-Stop-Writing.252635" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>Triond: A Few Pennies and Counting</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/Triond-A-Few-Pennies-and-Counting.252621</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>I've been doing some research on how to become successful on Triond. &amp;nbsp;By successful, I mean both in gaining readership&amp;nbsp;as well as making money. &amp;nbsp;As you can tell by the title, I've only&amp;nbsp;made a few pennies so far.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;I'm not complaining; I&amp;nbsp;submitted my first post only a few days ago and I've already earned some cash.&amp;nbsp; It's not making me rich, but I'll take it.</p>
<p>As I read through articles, I noticed that most were from people who already&amp;nbsp;had great success&amp;nbsp;writing on Triond.&amp;nbsp; I wanted to read about someone like me, a struggling writer that was trying to figure it out.&amp;nbsp; Since I couldn't find an artilcle&amp;nbsp;like this, I decided to create my own.&amp;nbsp; This is post #1, an introduction to the struggle, if you will.&amp;nbsp; Below are my first attempts to boost readership:</p>
<h3>Research</h3>
<p>I found some good tips and I've been trying to use them.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;My first step was to register on Digg.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;It&amp;nbsp;didn't do much for my posts initially but the more friends I gather and the more time I spend digging, the more&amp;nbsp;hits I get on my articles.&amp;nbsp; I'm going to invest some more time on Digg and see if I can't get an article to be popular.</p>
<p>A few days later I tried Reddit and then I Google book-marked all my articles.&amp;nbsp; It's only been a few hours since I&amp;nbsp;first tried these,&amp;nbsp;so nothing much to report at&amp;nbsp;the moment&amp;nbsp;either way.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;</p>
<h3>Adding Friends on Triond</h3>
<p>I added over&amp;nbsp;50 friends on <a href="http://www.triond.com" target="_blank">Triond</a> in my first week. &amp;nbsp;I added some of the "Hot Users"&amp;nbsp;first so I could become familiar with the&amp;nbsp;writers that got the most clicks.&amp;nbsp; Then I read a bunch of articles from lesser known Triond writers.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;If I liked the&amp;nbsp;posts, I&amp;nbsp;added the writers as friends.&amp;nbsp; Then I added about 20 or so people&amp;nbsp;whose work I hadn't read.&amp;nbsp; This allowed for&amp;nbsp;a steady stream of posts and articles to be loaded directly onto my Community Page. &amp;nbsp;Easy access to articles means less time searching and more time reading and learning what does and doesn't work for Triond. &amp;nbsp;</p>
<h3>Trying New Content</h3>
<p>In order to see what is popular, and also in hopes of keeping things fresh, I've been writing about various subjects. &amp;nbsp;So far, I've written about my day job, weight loss, a friend's scary run-in with mono and a list &amp;nbsp;of tips to get through a bad day.&amp;nbsp; The weight loss, bad day, and day job have had decent success.&amp;nbsp; Mono has tanked horribly.&amp;nbsp; Who doesn't want to read about Mono? &amp;nbsp;Apparently everyone on Triond.</p>
<h3>Future Plans</h3>
<p>First: I'm going to post this and hope to get some feedback in the comments section.&amp;nbsp; Feel free to leave tips, comments, or even to tell me I'm wasting my time.&amp;nbsp; My feelings are pretty hard to hurt.&amp;nbsp;</p>
<p>Second: I'm going to write a good bit more content.&amp;nbsp; Every article about writing for Triond emphasizes creating a large quantity of quality content. &amp;nbsp;Thankfully, writing articles is a nice way to break up my work day. &amp;nbsp;It's also a welcome break from my other writing;&amp;nbsp; I'm attempting to write screenplays, plays, and novels as well.&amp;nbsp;</p>
<p>Third: Once I get a good body of work, I'll email friends and family and ask them to take a look.&amp;nbsp; A bit out of order you may think?&amp;nbsp; Most people send out those links with their first submissions.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Everyone's lives are so busy these days, I'd rather send them a bundle of things to check out at their leisure.&amp;nbsp; The alternative is to send them a link to one and either do follow up emails or hope they want to check back frequently.&amp;nbsp; This way, at least, they know I've been working hard.</p>
<p>Fourth: I'll keep you posted.&amp;nbsp;</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FTriond-A-Few-Pennies-and-Counting.252621"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FTriond-A-Few-Pennies-and-Counting.252621" border="0"/></a>]]></description>

<title>Scheduling Your Way to Online Writing Riches</title>
<link>http://www.writinghood.com/Online-Writing/Scheduling-Your-Way-to-Online-Writing-Riches.213533</link>
<description>
<![CDATA[<p>When you think about becoming rich writing for a living, what goes through your mind?&amp;nbsp; Do you think about how many articles it would actually take to get you there?&amp;nbsp; Do you consider how many clicks on your ads you need to get?&amp;nbsp; How much traffic?&amp;nbsp; If you do not, then why not?</p>
<h3>Getting Rich Writing Online</h3>
<p>The one thing that every single rich online writer shares is a plan.&amp;nbsp; None of these online writers go into their day without some idea of what needs to be done to keep the money flowing.&amp;nbsp; While this seems painfully obvious, it is amazing how many online writers do not have a game plan.&amp;nbsp; If you are one of those people, then here is how to get a schedule, and keep it.</p>
<h3>Write Down Your Writing Schedule</h3>
<p>Before you go to bed at night, figure out what you want to earn the next day.&amp;nbsp; Start out with a reasonable goal, and resist the urge to set the bar way too high.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; You want to get a bit of momentum going, and you want to stay realistic.&amp;nbsp; The big money will come around soon enough.&amp;nbsp; Set a realistic goal, and refuse to come up short.</p>
<p>Once you know what you wish to earn, write it down.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; This is where you actually write down the avenues that you can earn that amount from.&amp;nbsp; Online submission sites like Triond, Constant Content, Associated Content, and others, allow for you to earn steady money.&amp;nbsp; Earn your direct money from them.&amp;nbsp; Once you reach that goal, then you can start to earn secondary money.</p>
<h3>What is Secondary Money, and Why Should I Care?</h3>
<p>Secondary money is the money that you earn through Google Adsense and websites that do not pay you a direct amount for your work.&amp;nbsp; For example, websites that share revenue, or operate only with a page view bonus.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; These sites are time based.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; In other words, you will need to build a presence before you will start to earn a strong secondary income.&amp;nbsp; They still have to be a part of your long term goals, however, so you need to schedule time for each of these.&amp;nbsp; Blogs are another perfect example of this method.&amp;nbsp; Slow and steady wins the race.</p>
<h3>Hit That Online Writing Homerun</h3>
<p>Do not sell yourself short.&amp;nbsp; Submit to the major magazines, and online big boys regularly.&amp;nbsp; I try to send in at least one submission per day to a major source.&amp;nbsp; It only takes one getting accepted to send your career through the roof.&amp;nbsp; If you get your foot in the door, then you will certainly increase your earning power.&amp;nbsp; This will lead to new online writing goals, and new tax brackets for you.</p>
<h3>Spend at Least Two Hours a Day Promoting</h3>
<p>Promoting your work is a must, especially in the beginning.&amp;nbsp; Spend time submitting to as many places as possible, and blogging and networking.&amp;nbsp; Make sure that you are building a web history, and that your name is getting out in the online writing world.&amp;nbsp; Over time, you will begin to have your work come to you.&amp;nbsp; That is a great feeling, and it becomes quite profitable as you are the one setting the prices.</p>
<h3>Schedule Everything</h3>
<p>Each of the above tasks are all important to online writing riches, and all of them need to be scheduled into your day.&amp;nbsp; If you follow a schedule, then you are much more likely to not overlook any important aspects of your online writing career.&amp;nbsp; In a career where covering every base is vital, that is the most important tip you could ever get.&amp;nbsp; Schedule it, and then follow through.&amp;nbsp; You will be amazed at how fast your earning potential will grow.</p><a href="http://www.pheedo.com/click.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FScheduling-Your-Way-to-Online-Writing-Riches.213533"><img src="http://www.pheedo.com/img.phdo?x=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.writinghood.com%2FOnline-Writing%2FScheduling-Your-Way-to-Online-Writing-Riches.213533" border="0"/></a>]]></description>
