I first started my online Writing carrier at Associated Content. I have to say that associated content is not a bad company at all and I'm glad that I was able to start with such a well-known company. For those who don't know AC (Associated Content) pays upfront for unique articles. Average pay is about $3 an article if accepted and another $1.5 for every 1000 views. I know what you’re thinking "Man that sounds great!” For some people that is great. There is a down side though. They only take certain topic and there is no way to know what they will and will not take any given day. They also take roughly a week to review your submitted article. To make matters worse they are very strict on the kind of content you can submit.

After getting frustrated writing for AC I decided to look for another company. Triond came up in a few searches with pretty Good Reviews and benefits. The first thing I noticed was that the average article payout over time was higher than Associated Content. Sure, you might make $4 upfront on an article that accepted at AC but over a few months, that same article would pay you just as much and even more in the long run at Triond. As I said Earlier AC pays 1.50 per 1000 views, but Triond pays nearly double that so over time it not hard to see why you would make more Writing for this Great Company.

The last thing I love most about Triond is the flexibility. I can just sit and write to my heart’s content and not worry about a silly rejection for my article being under 400 words or Triond having too many articles on that same topic. As long as my grammar is good, there is no profanity and I did not copy the article from someone else I can sleep easy knowing my article will be accepted. Triond also has the option to edit your article after its been submitted in case there is something you would like to change. That is another feature that’s just missing from AC.

So don’t lose hope. It may seem like you are only making pennies today but give them time and those articles will turn into dollars.

These sites offer their writers a flexible schedule, meaning you write on your time and not theirs. They offer choices on what you will be writing about. This allows you to freely choose what you are going to be writing about. Compensation for writing papers varies with the site, but I have seen from $6 to $16 a page, so a 10 page essay would be worth from $60 to $160 depending. At one point in time, I seen a 100 page history essay which you had a month to write going for about $500, which to say is a lot of extra cash to be able to work at only 4 pages a day.

So if you have a little free time on your hands and don’t mind spend your time typing out essays for other people’s homework, then there is a possibility of making some extra money on the side. Depending on how much time you put into it, you could get a rather large income out of it as well.

Criticizing someone's grammar and spelling.

This is an issue that should be given serious thought.  I know we all like to show that we know how to write and we are good using the English language, but sometimes our public criticism of the way someone misspells words or use grammar incorrectly can be hurtful to that person.  Some writers do not mind being corrected in public.  I find these writers are generally not Americans and are learning the language as a second language.  However, correcting someone in public is not normally an American value.  We generally try to do this in private.  If you are tempted to correct someone's writing, I would suggest you contact them by message first and find out what they prefer.  In other words, do they care to be corrected in public or on private?

Rude remarks

Most writers are supportive of others and friendly even when they disagree with an article, but I have run into some very rude writers who write very nasty and hateful comments, including calling me nasty and hateful names.  This is seen often with articles speaking on political issues.   They do not realize (or don't care) that they lose their credibility and respect as writers.  I generally try to respond to their criticism, but only once.  If they come back again and haven't changed their ways, I ignore them.  Remember this:  "You cannot argue with a fool and you cannot fix stupid." 

Making money on Triond has much to do with writing often, making friends and their responses.

The number of articles you submit and the nunber of friends that you make and their comments on your work are directly proportional to the earnings you will reap.  A great and interesting article without friends and comments is wasted.  If you are interested in making money, you must make friends and welcome their comments.  responding back to them, thanking them for their comments goes a long way in developing a following.  The more articles you submit, the more you will be recognized.  However, there are writers who submit just about anything just to add to his/her volume.  I would discourage this behavior because many writers will not respond to articles without substance.  

Many flood articles they read with meaningless comments.

Comments such as "good," "okay," and so on are not a good way to respond to someones work.  I know we are all busy and we read many articles written by our friends.  I know it is hard to take time to put time into our comments, but just think for a moment how you feel getting thoughtless responses to your articles.  Don't you appreciate some deeper thought on your work, other than, "good?"  Personally, I try to get the gist of the article and make a thoughtful comment, often as it relates to my life.  Thoughtful comments indicate to the author that you really did read and think about his/her subject, instead of just trying to cover the bases.  Personally, I think that if a thoughtful comment cannot be written, no comment should be written.

Putting together an article

Putting together an article is not so difficult if you remember some elementary training from your school days.  Before you start writing, think of what it is that you want to share with the world.  Think of the points that you want to make.  Write these points down, they can be your headers, and your outline.  Come up with a short title that captures what your article is about.  Then, write a short and concise description of what you plan to reveal with your article.  Then, write about each header or point that you listed.  You do not have to write in consecutive order,  Write on any point that you want and move to the others when you are ready.  It is ideal to finish your article with a simple summary. 

Friendships

Writing articles and commenting on articles often bring people together as friends, even though they have not met.  I personsaly know who seem to be more interested in my work and I choose to treat them with respect and friendship.  Triond is a great place to make friends.  Often, friends email each other and discuss issues privately.  There is an opportunity to meet and discuss issues with writers from all around the world.  I love to interact with people in far away countries and read their views of America or about their interests and lives.  For example, I was discussing issues with a writer in India during the Mumbai terrorist attacks.  I haven't heard from her since.  I hope she is okay.      

Reasons why people write

Writing on Triond is a way for writers to express themselves.  I have noticed many different styles.  There are writers who just love to write; there are lonely and sad writers.  There are writers who love to teach and there are hateful writers.  Writing is very cathartic, a way to release emotional pain and lessen loneliness and sadness.  It's a way to document one's life and often fill empty time with something to do.  It is a way to handle hurt and disappointments.  It's a way to make and enjoy friends and put substance in one's life.  When reading someone's article, try feeling that person's mood and comment appropriately.  

I have tried to point out and speak to the ssues of which I am aware of on Triond in an effort to help all of us to succeed on Triond.  Happy Writing to all.

Is it possible?

To make a decent living while you're composing content? Let's see... I started in April, 2008 on the HubPages, in September on Triond and Squidoo... and I'm still not sure. I have a number of blogs (in Dutch) that are doing very well, but they sure are not going to get me a swimming pool. Some of us are blogging their way to the bank, or so it seems. The problem with me is... I want to have fun while blogging my way to the bank . If I can't have fun, writing online, I quit. So, now I'm enjoying myself and some others too (I hope) while only making a handful of euro's here and a few dollars more there. And yes, I'm definitely having fun now, even with something extremely serious like an article about the online writing business, and I'm having fun all the way, that's for sure but... well, I'm not that sure if I'm heading to the bank, really.

Okay, enough socializing! Here are the Goodies!

But here they are, in a nutshell and in no particular order, your "Must Be" Sites:

1. I'm fond of Triond and that's where you are now, lucky bird! Triond works with a bunch of "associated sites" and keeps innovating all the time. You get paid every month, thanks to the visitors you've attracted and you can even earn some money with your poetry. The "Triond Community of Fellow Writers" really exists and it's very easy to submit your content. Remember, you may not have submitted your articles, creative writings, photographs, audio or video elsewhere!... Also a Good Thing: you'll receive an editor mail when your content is published ("We are happy to inform you...") and when not ("We regret..."). If you have a problem, you can mail the support team. And guess what? You get a mail back, polite and helpful!
2. Squidoo rocks! Go to the Making Money with your Online Writings article, and you'll see why. These  Squids also have a great, helpful and friendly community, with Giant Squids and Angel Squids  and that sort of things. It's really fun to build all those "lenses" (as these Squids call the Squidoo sites), they have great tools to promote and to sell your stuff, and you get paid every month thanks to the visitors you've attracted and the commission on the stuff that was sold on your page. Oh,  and if you'd like to start on Squidoo and become a Giant Squid, be an Angel Squid and do it here, please. (I'll get a commission thanks to you and 1 step closer to that swimming pool my wife and daughter are dreaming of.)
3. Hub with the HubPages! I started online writing here. The HubPages were my first love, and they will always be my Love! ("Hey, that's my quote!" John Miles is yelling.)  HubPages also are  Big Fun, and they are easy to create. The Hub Community is a fine one, with much "Hubtivity". If you go hubbing, you have to get a Google, eBay, Amazon and Kontera account. You will be paid by those "affiliates", every time someone clicks an ad or buys something from your HubPages. Thinking about a career making Hubs? Do it here (you know why, by now).
4. Associated Content. I'm new here, but it seems a good place to be for a Composer of Content. You can get an "upfront payment", if you have not submitted your content elsewhere and promised not to do so in the future. And you get paid thanks to the traffic you've attracted. They not only have an "articles" and "creative writing" section here, but you can also publish your slideshows, audio and video with Associated Content.
5. Helium is not really my cup of tea. They have writing contests on Helium and there are awards to win, but you have to read and rate articles written by others, and that isn't always fun. And there are no nice video or photo tools here, no stilish layout possibilities as you have on Triond, Squidoo or the HubPages. But some colleagues are doing fine with Helium, so... why not give it a try?
6. PrintnPost. A dull site, pretty much like Helium... and I constantly got lost here. But maybe that's because one of my nicknames is "The Lost Dutchman"?

Xomba I can’t say as that I have been very involved with the Xomba community,  when I joined I found the layout a bit more confusing so it took me a while to get used to it; though I must say the admin have been helpful and answered any queries that I have had. I think I have found it more difficult to make friends there than in the Triond community but I wonder is that as much to do with my nature as it has to do with the nature of Xomba.  Around about the time that I joined Xomba I also started to have a few problems with my computer this was another reason I found to not be as active there as I could have possibly been, although admittedly my knowledge of computers is very limited and there could be any amount of causes I couldn’t help linking the two together. I realise I am on the internet an awful lot more than I usually am and I am bound to come across problems occasionally. I just need to learn how to get them sorted out quickly and efficiently.

Triond Maybe because I joined Triond first I find the layout  easier to use, I also found that people befriended me much quicker, this surprised me a bit because I have a self perception of being a bit of an oddball! However these two points make me feel more at home in Triond than in Xomba. From a monetary point of view neither community is going to make me rich. I do not as far as I can see write the right sort of articles that will attract lots and lots of reads. I do however feel that Xomba  and Triond can have an important part in my internet adventures in trying to bring my writing to a wider audience, and in my growth as a writer.

For the most part in Xomba I have posted up Xomblurbs (I think this is an excellent idea)!  You just need to write a description of the piece and add the link. I am xomblurbing articles by other people as well as by myself, people who have made me laugh or think. I don’t know if it has helped them in anyway but it can’t hinder them either.

At the moment I am working at being consistent with submitting stuff for publication and hopefully as time goes by I will find my Netch in the online writing market were people will actually see my name and want to read my stuff. Then perhaps I can say were I think the best earning sites are. For the moment though I cannot see why it can’t be seen as a good thing to use both Xomba and Triond.

If they have the same interests they can befriend you and that's more views for your articles you wouldn't have otherwise. This is an important key to any users success that should be taken advantage of. This is only one in many thing that will help you Increase Your Efficiency With Triond.
