Freelance Writing and You

Tips for the newbie writer.

If you are just starting out as a freelance author there are some things you should know. Key to a successful writing career is your topics. While granted some topics innately do better than others, there are ways to "test the waters" so to speak.

  1. Before publishing, share your ideas with family and friends,
  2. 2nd and 3rd opinions are always helpful.
  3. It is ok to research a project for a while before proceeding to commit it to the page.
  4. Time is the writers friend, elaborate and give as much good information on the topic as you can.
  5. While it is good to be detailed try to avoid rambling or giving irrelevent information.
  6. If you are not satisfied that your work is the best it can be, keep working at it.

Do not get discouraged if you don't publish the same day or even the same week as you start a project. I know some of these tips may seem trivial, but when it comes down to it nothing about good writing is trivial. To all, I hope these tips are helpful and that this article finds you in good health and prosperous in all your literary pursuits.

Good advice. And I've found that experienced writers need a reminder once and a while. Thanks for that.
