Keep a Journal: As a writer it is essential to write something every single day. When you write in a journal it will help you get in touch and trust your writer's “voice” so that the words will flow easier and more naturally every single time you put pen to paper.
Read everyday: It is crucial to read something every single day as well. The more you read, the more skilled your eyes and literary knowledge will become. The more that you read eloquent and intelligently written literature and publications, the more that you will be able to write with a wider scope of verbiage, creativity, and uniqueness. Many writers worry that they may run out of things to write about, but, for example, reading will give you more ideas of what to write about next.
Practice exercises: If you love to write poetry, for example, you might want to try to practice some poetry exercises. Try the following example: write the first line with two syllables, the second with four, the third with six, and the fourth with two. Your poem might end up looking like this:
Tonight
You shine beauty
Brightly you sing to me
My love.
Such structured exercises can and do ironically help to increase your creative potential.
Writing is a challenging, amazing career path. If you love it, by working hard, keeping focused, and doing all that you can to constantly improve your abilities you will accomplish all the goals you set out for yourself. Your dreams and vision for your life are coming together. You are making them happen everyday.
