Writing prompts for fiction writers can be found in many places on the web. Mostly, they are touted as quick solutions to that demon, writer's block. But that is just one thing they can help you with. The following is a succinct list of ways that using writing prompts can help you achieve better writing.

Of course, writing prompts are great for breaking writer's block. When you make the decision to write about whatever random prompt pops up, you have taken the first step. The phrase, word, or picture that is the writing prompt will jump start your brain.

Writing prompts trigger creativity. Some of them are downright odd, and others are quite ambiguous. In order to write something about some writing prompts, you must use your creative brain to figure out what to write. The good thing is, the more you use it, the easier it will be.

One of the best things a writer can do is write every single day. If you dedicate ten or twenty minutes every day to a writing prompt, you will get in the habit more easily. They provide quick and easy topics of writing for you.

You can also use writing prompts to learn new things. If you normally write romance short stories, and are suddenly faced with a writing prompt about police and aliens, you will have to force yourself to write outside of your comfort zone. Doing this also stretches your creativity muscles and will increase your skills.

Writing prompts provide an easy way to get in a lot of practice at writing. As with every other thing, you can only get better at something if you practice it regularly.

Thank you! I\'ve been stuck in writer\'s block for a while, and this just reminded me that I have a big book full of writer\'s prompts I can dig out.
