Triond Profile Show-offs in Comments Will Increase Views, Comments, and Earnings

I noticed Triond now allows linking to profile pages in comments. This would surely change a lot of things.

I only noticed it today while I was viewing a friend's article on Triond. I tried looking for any news about it in Triond's Blog but there are none.

Update: A little while after I have submitted this article, Triond published a post in their blog announcing this new feature.

And yet there it is: a small check box with a simple querry “Post comment with your Triond credentials?”

Triond is allowing it's users to link to their Triond Profile pages as they give comments to other user's articles. (I think we can also use it when commenting in our own articles.)

Has it always been like this?

I cannot tell. If yes, members should be always using this option. But I have only seen this used just today. So maybe the answer is no.

I have always been thinking of ways to promote my Triond articles. Before, I would only wish that the writer would search for my name in the Explore page of their Triond dashboard to view my articles. And I would also do that to those who comment on my articles. Now, it's right there. No more searching needed.

Profile Show-Offs

When you check the box before submitting your comment, a link to your profile page would be embedded to your name. This option allows self-promotion in every comment that you make. The more comments you make, the more chances that the link would be clicked, applying the Law of Averages, and more chances that your articles will be viewed and read.

I can see growth in comments

With self-advertisement as easy a click, I can see growth in the number of comments articles would receive, especially for those writers who are known to comment back to their commentators. It would also increase the number of writers who give back the favor of commenting.

With this, I can see a growth in page views and earnings.

it is more of a security feature, so that unscrupulous Triond member don't 'hijack' another user's profile-name when commenting, typically, with short political messages like "Vote for Obama" or "Vote for McCain", etc., and worse abuses... :(

It will be interesting to see if this security feature does increase self promotion, as you think. Time will tell.

I have noticed a pleasant increase in my hits since I have been spending more time reading other Triond users' articles and commenting on them. Having my profile page show up on my comments will hopefully boost my content even more. I think it is a great addition.

The change is very welcome. I've often wanted to look up the person who wrote an interesting comment, but it was such a hassle that I usually didn't bother.

Richie, you said it. It is encouraging that Karen is seeing an immediate benefit.

Wow. I'm new here and I had know idea how complex it could be. But its all still rather fascinating to me still. I am sure in a few short weeks that may turn to frustration but for now I will enjoy the learning process. Thanks for sharing.
