The StoryMash experience is something new in the world of internet write-for-pay. It features collaborative story-writing. You can write a chapter in a story started by someone else. Or you can start a story yourself and watch as others add chapters to it. Writers receive 50% of the advertising revenues received from the content they publish.
The web site is owned by Storymash, LLC, which was founded in November of 2007. The company is based in Henderson, NV and has six employees.
StoryMash is ideal for the writer who prefers to write fiction, and who thinks collaborative fiction would be fun. It might be good practice for the beginning writer who hopes someday to write a novel. It would prove difficult for those with more of a non-fiction set of mind.
The most important factor in StoryMash earnings is to write things that appeal to others, and write them in quantity. You want to write things that other writers are inspired to write chapters for as well. Chapters are rated by other readers so that the most popular chapters become more official.
The payout for StoryMash is at $30, so it may be quite some time before a StoryMash writer gets paid. But there is a current promotion that allows for payout at $2. There are also writing contests one can participate in.
Good tip. My wife is addicted to Storymash, and I can see why. I don't write much, but I very much enjoy the site for some amazing reading. Some of the writers are excellent, but of course, many are not, but that doesn't seem to be a problem, or focus of the site. The stories being created can range from stupid rants from teenagers, to the next big budget hollywood movie script, and everywhere in between. As for the payments, it's not a lot, but more than we make on other bigger sites.
