Blogs are do-follow and search engines index it and evaluate it while calculating your pr value. Check the pr value of your blog first and if it is at least 2 or 3, then add your link into it.
The comment part of the blogs are usually no-follow and it has no effect on pr calculation. It is pointless for pr but it still works as backlink.
