How to Get Your Articles Read

Writing a good short article needn't be a lot of work. Follow these tips and article writing can be fast, fun, and profitable.

Most people these days are rushed for time. Being in a hurry with only so much time, be it the morning train commute, coffee break, or lunch at work means even though your article is interesting it is often left unread because of lack of time. Writing a good short article doesn't have to be a lot of work. There are just a few points that you should keep in mind and once you get the idea, article writing can be fast, fun, and profitable.

  1. Write about what you know.

It is always a good idea to write articles on subjects you are familiar with. This means less research and more time for writing.
  2. Use short paragraphs.

When your paragraphs are long, words tend to get jumbled in the reader's mind. It becomes too much work for the reader who is pressed for time. The reader may skip the article altogether and move on to shorter and less cluttered reading.
  3. Grab their attention.

Use an attention grabbing title to draw the reader in.
  4. Use key words.

Readers are attracted to key words whether they realize it or not. The more you use, the more the interested your reader will become.
  5. Use sub-headings.

Breaking each point into sub-sections will keep the reader's attention and they will find the transition from one point to another smooth and easy.
  6. Keep your reader interested.

Use good metaphors and descriptions to make your point.

Making the reader's experience pleasurable in a short but interesting article means you have done what your jpb well. You article is being read and the reader is satisfied by an interesting well informed article that they were able to read in the amount of time allotted to them.

Well, after reading comments from Lucy L. and Liane S., your article and advice therein has to be tops. Of course, the way to get ahead is to copy the expert(no s). It's cheating, but that's life. Very well put together. Thank you for the guidelines.

Second the motion on the Headings part. I, for one, am a lazy Internet reader (the glare, you see) and I find it very discouraging to see long stretches of text without headers in between. Excellent article! (Hope everybody reads it and uses it!)

This is good advice and it is well written. I like that it is short, but very informative. I think that the point about shorter paragraphs is very good advice because most viewers may lose interest in a long, run-on paragraph.

Thank you so much for all of your comments Darlene.
