Good Ways to Find a Ghostwriter

For the person who has a story to tell, but has seldom done any real writing, the prospect of telling that story can be daunting. Sometimes we're simply too busy to give it the time it deserves. Ghostwriters, and good ones, are out there. Don't be afraid to look.

Where do you go to find a good ghostwriter? You can begin your search by bringing up Google on your web browser, and typing in ghostwriters. You'll find hundreds of writers who advertise that they ghostwrite. Or, you could go to listings such as Craigs List. This listing happens to be among the most popular on the Internet, but there are others out there. When you are in Craigs List, look under the heading - Services Offered - and go to Writing Services. See what is listed not only in your city, but some of the larger cities as well. Or, you could post your own ad, explaining what sort of work you want, and asking for a writer.

GetaFreelancer.com is an excellent place to go if you are looking for someone who is so desperate that they will do your job for pennies. The writers on that site bid so hard against each other in order to win projects that they are asking mere pennies for the work they do. However, as with any business person, the less you pay for it, the less quality work they are willing to put into the assignment. In order to make money, these writers have to put out so much volume that they cannot afford to take the time to edit their work

Guru is another place that specializes in helping people find writers for their projects. Here the writers are not compelled to out bid each other as much as they are on some of the other job boards, but there is still plenty of competition.

Wherever you choose to look for a writer, you will still want to see samples of their work. Some writers may offer to write a short sample for you, based on your material. But, before you ask for such a sample, be up front about what you are able to pay for your work. Most writers like to receive at least one third to one half of the payment up front before they begin a project, as nearly all writers who have been in business for more than a couple of years, have had the experience of working many hours for a client, who says right down the line that he loves their work, and once the project is complete, never hearing from that client again.

Professional writers will, sooner or later, have a lawyer help write up a contract for them. Some writers like to keep their contract very simple, while others may ask you to sign pages of legalese. In truth, there many writers out there, each with unique skills to offer. If you have the courage to look, you will find one who suits your needs.
