How to Get Thousands More People to Read Your Articles by Using the System Properly
Knowing the ins and outs of keywords and search engines can greatly increase the number of readers you attract to your pages.
Triond writers should all be aware that one excellent way to bring readers to their articles is to join up to social bookmarking sites and post their links there. I don’t intend to go into the basic details of where to find those sites, etc. because Triond provides a lesson on how to do that at Triond School. If you need a basic introduction that’s the place to go.
At the bottom of every Triond article you will find quick links to social bookmarking sites, just click on “bookmark, share, or email” to use this facility. My personal favorites are Stumbleupon and Del.icio.us.
There are a couple of additional social bookmarking sites that may be worth adding to this list:
Wagg.it is a small site that seems to be growing very fast. The last time I looked it had just over one thousand members.
Biggitup is a mixture of social bookmarking and blogging and also seems to be expanding quickly.
If you find submitting to each individual site tedious you might find the free social bookmarking site at OnlyWire useful. It saves a lot of work. You need to set it up with membership names, passwords, etc before you can use it but it is quite effective after that. Be cautious here though, because if you submit inappropriate links, or large numbers of url’s you run the risk of being banned from the social bookmarking sites.
Many writers spend time adding their links to these sites and don’t get any more than a handful of reads from the exercise. There could be a number of reasons for this. Apart from producing the very best content you can, you may need to do a bit of research before you start marketing your articles.
First of all you need a simple understanding of how these sites work. If you have lots of friends/contacts, you will accumulate reads but a little careful preparation could bring you thousands of visitors.
Millions of people use these sites to search for information. To enable them to find your pages you need to provide excellent search words/terms and tags to speed up the process. When you add your articles to social bookmarking sites you will be asked for tags and keywords. Usually this is not compulsory but if you can’t be bothered to think about this, you are throwing away the possibility of thousands of readers.
You can find out which keywords are most used by searchers by visiting Ask. Take a look at the terms people use to find what they want and tailor your keywords to fit.

Both these sites can provide useful information on which keywords and tags to use.
This sounds like hard work and it probably will be but as soon as you see the numbers of reads you get increasing, it will all be worthwhile.
Whether you are promoting your own blog, website or article, keyword are certainly king.

Great information. I do use StumbleUpon, but I have found some of the users are very uptight about people who promote their own work there. If I submit a good article or story, I hope my friends will give it a ‘thumbs up,’ as I do theirs, but I rarely promote my own there anymore.

Just a word about StumbleUpon. I recently found myself banned for supposedly trying to drive traffic to a pay for clicks site (whatever that means). I have no idea what I did wrong and they were totally unwilling to listen to any explanation or to clarify this is plain English. I can only assume that the real reason was that I was promoting my own stuff. Take care with this or you might find you are banned as has happened to a few of us on this site.
